[July 31, 2003, Taipei]TwinMOS, a leading memory module manufacturer, recently announced the TwiSTER, a series of new-generation WLCSP-based DRAM modules. The company named the new product line – TwiSTER after the core concepts incorporated into the technology with “S” standing for “speed” and “TER” standing for “terrific” to approach over-clocking power users?gaming enthusiasts and business customers with its high performance and speedy yet steady retrieval of data. The DDR WLCSP module under the TwiSTER line is produced with WLCSP technology, enabling steady data transmission and effective thermal reduction

...

This product line comes in 256MB and 512MB models, providing an ideal solution for over-clocking power users, gaming enthusiasts and business users alike. Products under the TwiSTER series use chips directly from upstream original suppliers, with 6-layer PCB and 30u gold-finger plating integrated into them. Circuitry design follows the JEDEC standard, which reduces electromagnetic interference, allows speedy and steady transmission of complex data and ensures security associated with the retrieval of large-sized data. All TwinMOS memory modules are provided under warranties that ensure customer support throughout the products’ lifecycle.

WLCSP: Wafer-level chip scale packaging, refers to the packaging of the entire wafer instead of individual chips diced from the wafer -- a technique producing packaged chips 20% larger than the original. WLCSP involves packaging the entire wafer before the dicing process, producing packaged chips the same size as the original.

Idea of pricing
http://www.twinmos.com.sg/promo_aug.asp

2x 256MB Twinmos Twister PC3500 dual channel Cas2 = SG$259 ~ AUD$225
2x 512MB Twinmos Twister PC3500 dual channel Cas2 = SG$499 ~AUD$433

same or similar WLCSP used on GEIL Golden Dragon series memory which i have a pair of PC3700 dual channel of.. and yes it does run ALOT cooler than any memory I've tested.

IIRC, the twinmos WLCSP PC3200 cas 2.5 version managed to overclock to 224mhz 2.5-4-4-8 at 2.8v so PC3500 never know

The DDR500 modules look interesting.

Hey eva,

I see you got some GEIL pc 4200. I thought they werent making that stuff on the Golden Dragon line. How does it do? Im thinking of making Geil my next purchase if i can run medium timings at high FSB on 3.2-3.6v

don't have the sticks exactly as yet.. local retailer auspcmarket.com.au has them and i'll get to evaluate them.. sales manager at the retailer tested the geil pc4200 for 20 mins and managed 271 mhz 1:1 at 3-4-4-8 at 2.85v on PX865PE PRO (not PRO2) limited by the cpu and/or board

can't wait to smack it on 4PCA3+ though hehe

Looks like TwinMOS are trying to take on the big boys, especially can tell, the RAM is presetned like the rest - heat spreaders :D

lol

expensive as hell tho the reason i got my twinmoss 3200 w/ BH-5 was that it does around 230mhz w/ 5-2-2-2 timings and is mad cheap at www.memory-x.com (you cant get bh-5 anymore tho)

So I wonder if these new Tiwnmos chips are going to be optimized for P4 like all of the current pc4000 or will they work equally well on AMD like BH5 does?

My Corsair XMS3500C2 sounds about the same. With 3.15v it will hang on to 235fsb, not bad for 512's but I was expecting more
BH-5 as well

It proabably means they can't guarantee the timings of the higher sticks in dual mode vs. single for whateverv reason.

Quality control hasn't slipped that much with these modules. :)

What Xgman means is that because a stick is excellent in Single Channel mode, does not neccesairly hold true they will be excellent in Dual Channel mode.

I understand exactly what he means. 'Matched pairs' of modules is nothing other than a marketing gimmick, but a smart one. If a manufacturer has to test these modules together (which they shouldn't), that's a quality control issue.

See I kinda agreed with you on that point, but tried a picked matched pair and two bought modules and the matched did go further than the two inidividual... and no combination worked as well as the matched pair, admittedly a small test. But I made sure it was fair...

with “S” standing for “speed” and “TER” standing for “terrific” That has to be one of the worst acronyms I've ever seen...:rotf: :ROTF:

Fair enough. You're personal experience holds just as much weight, if not more, than my bantering. :)
