I've searched a bit and there're some modified firmwares that can overclock the Linksys routers. Are there similar firmwares for the Netgear WGR614 v6 router? Will I notice any speed increase when transfering files between my network (connected through ethernet cables, not wireless)? Thansk.

I can't give you the answer, but i do have lots of experience with overclocking linksys routers. Putting routers in you're freezer an then overclock it is lots of fun, but i could never experience any performance increase. It's probably the same thing as when you transfer files over a network with you're pc. A 6ghz quad won't be faster then a wimpy athlon xp. You probably would benefit only a bit when you have lots of simultaneous connections and several dozens of workstations connected to the router.

Technically, you can... but there is no point in doing so. The thing is, when your device operates at 100Mbps, you can overclock the processing unit all you'd like, but the standard is still 100Mbps. So no, your files will not transfer any faster. The only time it would make a difference would be when you have some sort of process or stateful packet inspection going on that introduces latency... but realistically, you should be looking at 1-2ms at most so you'd be hard pressed to ever see it make a difference.

Ok, in that case I'll just leave it stock. Thanks for the replies.
