Installing Microsoft Hotfix..

hello i currently dont have the internet on my gaming computer but i can use my frined to dowload files and what not, so i downloaded some hotfixes for vista64(he uses xp) and burned them onto a disk. When i try to install them i just get a list of programs to open them up from, not really hepfull. Is this even possiable to do?
