I'll keep this one short and sweet because for me this is more of a CPU cooler triumph than a CPU triumph. I knew my CPU could do 3.9GHz, I just didn't expect it to be this cool with the Zalman 9700. What an amazing cooler! In your face, naysayers!! :p:

Here's my thread in the Air Cooling forum which goes through the installation in detail:

Zalman 9700 LED - Simply AWESOME (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2653800#post2653800)

My settings for this overclock were as follows:

CPU: 3904MHz/1.500v
FSB: 488MHz/+0.05v
Memory: 976MHz 5-7-7-19 @ 2.15v
MCH: +0.225v

I loosened the timings on the memory because 5-5-5-15 at near 1GHz causes BSOD even with 2.15v. When I get PC-8500 memory I should be able to bench higher than 4GHz. Furthermore, I can boot and benchmark 3.9GHz with only 1.425v, so with further tweaking I can probably get this clock speed stable at nearer 1.45v. Thanks for looking.

posting overclock results without a FPO/Batch# should be grounds for an immediate 3 day ban :D

what are ambient temps?
i see you got same performance as a 120 xtreme:shakes:
my moded 9500 push pull with 68cfm fans cant keep up with my true

FPO/Batch# is in my sig and has been since I joined. You should be banned for a week because you didn't notice this lol. :D

Outside temps were 5°C and I had a window open. But I have an Antec 900 which has very good airflow, and all five case fans are on. I also used Liquid Pro thermal compound to seat the Zalman. I put a lot of thought and work into this, so the same performance as a TRUE120 is obviously a good result.

I second that Prime small ffts can make a 5c+ difference under load compared with blend , but regardless I nice Overclock espacially with that zalman:up:

Thanks guys, much appreciated. The folks over at the Air Cooling forum are busy trying to invalidate my load temps of 49°C...I guess that this impressive cooling feat courtesy of their arch nemesis, the 9700 LED, is a bitter pill to swallow. :ROTF:

I don't know what the ambient temps were. I'd guess 15-20°C in my bedroom. It may have been cooler, but not much cooler.

I have that same cooler. It's great!

I myself have 3.6Ghz with no intention to up that further though.

I finally managed to bench SPi 1M at 4.1GHz/1.556v - all I needed to do was increase the memory voltage to 2.2v, and that allowed timings of 5-5-5-17 without any signs of instability.
