I'll keep this one short and sweet because for me this is more of a CPU cooler triumph than a CPU triumph. I knew my CPU could do 3.9GHz, I just didn't expect it to be this cool with the Zalman 9700. What an amazing cooler! In your face, naysayers!! :p:
Here's my thread in the Air Cooling forum which goes through the installation in detail:
Zalman 9700 LED - Simply AWESOME (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2653800#post2653800)
My settings for this overclock were as follows:
CPU: 3904MHz/1.500v
FSB: 488MHz/+0.05v
Memory: 976MHz 5-7-7-19 @ 2.15v
MCH: +0.225v
I loosened the timings on the memory because 5-5-5-15 at near 1GHz causes BSOD even with 2.15v. When I get PC-8500 memory I should be able to bench higher than 4GHz. Furthermore, I can boot and benchmark 3.9GHz with only 1.425v, so with further tweaking I can probably get this clock speed stable at nearer 1.45v. Thanks for looking.
