Hi,
Im going to have the following spec:
E6850
Asus P5K Premium
On paper PC2-8000 RAM seems best but I've read some people say PC2-6400 is better.
Can anybody help out?
Thanks

the difference between PC8000 and PC6400 is bandwidth, they're telling you how many MB/s the memory is capable of.
But of course not all Rams are born equal, some 6400 kits with micron D9 will far surpass some generic rubbish 8000 kit.
if you're an overclocker go for crucial ballistix, the 6400's and the 8500's overclock like hell.

Thanks
Unfortunatly I cant find the Crucial stuff in 2GB's.
Is this OCZ stuff any good...

that ram looks fine, but if you have 4 ram slots just buy 2 crucial kits, 4 sticks of ram will work fine.

Isn't it an advantage to have two instead of four?
I have just found some OCZ ReaperX 6400 which is more expensive.
2 x 2gb
timings:
4-4-3-15
Presumably that's a fair bit better than the 5-5-5-18 stuff?
ps. thanks for all the help, I know these are really basic questions!

4 sticks of 1gb ram higher than 667mhz on a P5K is most likely to go really really bad.
Speaking from own experience + A LOT of threads everywhere...
Don't know about the premium one
