OK...so which should i go with? Im building a new PC

880GTX overclocked by BFG x16? or the (2) 8800GTS G92 2.0 SLI? I'm assuming the 2.0 would be better way to go

If this is true, running (2) 8800GTS 2.0 cards is better, then I guess i will have to go with the 780i chipset Asus board....too bad x38 doesnt SLI

Am I on the right track here guys? Thanks again for all your help

I know there are alot of issues in this simple question...would I be better getting the x38 and running one GTX? or going 780i and running two G92 2.0 cards? or should I wait for the new 9000 series and just get one of them?

I would like to overclock the q6600 and will be running 4BG RAM using 4 1GB sticks

Very confusing reading specs on everything..Im definately sticking with DDR2, that is for sure....don't have to build PC right now either, so I can wait a few months for something better to come out ;)

If you find a good SLI motherboard, two 8800gts all the way. :) Just make sure the mobo will work well with your Q6600 and be a good overclocker. ;)

I'd go with 2x HD3870 or wait for the HD3870x2 (basicly the same but 2x RV670 on one card for a better price). If you really want to go the Nvidia route it's better to get 2x 8800GT as the GTS is not worth the premium in a single card setup let alone in SLI.

In my opinion x38 is much better than the 780i, so if you go for a dual card solution I'd say ATI is the way to go.

I own an 8800GT so unlike my avatar suggests I'm not biased. It's really the best card in the $200-250 segment right now.

From what i have read from posting the 8800 gts 512 is a very good card and outperforms the 8800 gt, so what if it's a few dollars more, i just stay out of the bar for a week.

The thing is, that the GTS isn't worth the 130 more...it just doesn't perform at that much of an increase to warrant the price tag it comes with. Granted it does run cooler...but that's it.

I second the notion of running the 8800GT in SLI or if you want the longevity of an Intel board and the x38 go the CF route, which is still a very good option.
