hi guys

TEAM.AU (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=163000) Strikes again!

i bought a s/h dewar and thought i'd give it a crack yesterday. The plan was to bench XFX 780i with tripple 8800GTX in tri-sli with QX9650 but things went bad after changing from water to LN2. After struggling with the setup for half hour on LN2 it stopped working.......after some hair dryer action etc all parts tested ok but it was time for Josh (moloko) to go and so did all the nice goodies

well that wasn't going to stop me having some fun with some of my gear :D  so i chucked together my favourite setup and went for it quickly :)

Can't help myself and i have to say this would be a fitting soundtrack if i had time for the youtube video edit FINAL COUNTDOWN (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_IKcMl_a9A&feature=related) hahaha <<loves that song and solo>>

Test Configuration:
Gigabyte X38-DQ6 DDR2 Motherboard (F3 bios)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 720Axxx
2GB DDR2 Corsair Dominators PC10000
Single 8800GT PCIe 2.0 512MB Graphics Card (Stock cooler)
Corsair HX620 Power Supply
Kingpin Dragon Evo 2.4 Superpot :D ... soon to meet younger bro F1 Extreme that santa is delivering :D :D
Big Mama 35L MVE LN2 Dewar
80GB Samsung SATA Hard Drive
Windows XP Pro 32bit

I was limited to 1.79v idle and 1.76-1.77v under load in vcore due to OVP on the mobo....gotta remove that lol but i maxed out the FSB on the chip anyways

i benched the GFX at only 700MHz core and 922-999 on RAM

this was the first run no tweaks and bad strap on RAM plus really loose subtimings
also auto gfx settings so result is not what i was going for
plan was to see if i can make it run 3D that high in such a short period

first i ran down Pro's E6850 32M time on dry ice and now you go and post this. do you think the the cross-hairs are not going to find you? i'm coming for ya Dinos...me and my dry ice are coming :D

awesome work and a very nice looking dewar. not in appearance of course but in capacity ;). those waterworks shots of the board are priceless, your going to have to start benching in a tub to keep the mess to a minimum...keep up the good work man

hehe, i see your P5E3-Dlx and raise you an Asus Maximus Extreme and a kit of TWIN3X2048-1800C7DFIN, and lets not forget about the Ballistix which have already proven their worth on P35. looks like we have the makings for one heavyweight 32M bout...ding ding :D

Awesome stuff Dinos, just the thread to kick me in the backside to get moving with my monster benching marathon ;) Might try a E6850 in my Gigabyte X38-DQ6 to see if it can boot up properly - hope my X38-DQ6 isn't down for the count still heh

What's the full batch details on E6850 again L720A??? ? :)

what did the wife think of the dewar purchase ? :)

Shame about triple-SLI issues :(

This Dewar not for long storage of liquid nitrogen. This Dewar need for transportation of sperm of animals! :yepp: Therefore at it such thick aperture and capacity for immersing in nitrogen :D

hahah thanks guys

nordling i bought it from a veterinary hospital (sperm dewar) w00t :D

i have the board coated in LET (Liquid Electrical Tape) two coats and in Sydney it gets toasty being summer and all lol but i've never killed a board (fingers crossed)

eva it's 745

oh btw this chip WAS maxed out

i also benched with 6 multi and no gain in FSB at all...same as 9x so more vcore would not gain me anything :(

i do have another chip coming in january which should easily bench way past 600 on LN2
that should be very interesting

thanks for compliments :D

i left it alone for 24 hours to see what the evaporation rate is
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan...i don't think anything left the tank at all  :thumb:

Looks really good and cool video while running + some cool pics.

Like Marc says, there is alot of water there, but good you use LET.

Keep pushing it, looking forward to your 600fsb gem.

i just realised i had maxmem for all the 3d runs
no good....that will also give a boost in numbers
but no point benching on stock air

i think i might buy some ATI cards as they seem fun to bench with and you can use the heatsink and stick a watercooler on it which is swell

coolice

Your dewar looks like the one Ive been using, its not mine though I jsut borrow it from the ln2 supplier.... I can sure use those wheels as it gets pretty heavy when full.....

that's pretty good
really happy with that actually :D

That's awesome. I've never even tried leaving it for that long but I've always meant to. Well over a week of nearly perfect hold time sounds great.

dinos22
01-06-2008, 06:01 PM
yeah i'm thinking of always having it filled up with LN2 so that i never have to run out if the urge is there

but yeah i'll keep an eye out some more

my ln2 delivery guy told me it's also better to have these filled with LN2 even if not much is in there because if they get emptied and warm up and then you keep cooling them down the top neck area on the inside starts to crack from stress

Plus that way you know its nice and cold for next time you want to go, and like you say, it may be worth keeping it full.

Hey man if you dont mind me asking whats it worth for dewar and to fill it?

O thats not as expensive as I thought. Not planning on really using any, was just curious how much it cost's. I'm from melb, but I see a little l2n VAN mostly on the way home from work. I guess if I ever got some pots, and got keen I'd just give that guy a bell. I was just curious as to what it's worth.

i've got a chip capable of 650MHz FSB just trying to get a voltmod for vcore and OVP now for P5E3 DLX and figure out how the :banana::banana::banana: i downgrade the bios to 0504 so that i can run slightly better RAM speeds and 1T on DDR3

it should be good on LN2

i REALLY want to do some SuperPi damage here

Man I just got my new watercooling gear. I decided I might get some cable management and tidy it up aswell.. Plus getting this tripple rad to fit in the front of my armor might be a bit tricky.

Anyway, I better gat back to it, got a fair job on my hands.

thats not bad, here at work we have large 200L dewars of LN2, and also the smaller ones like yours. The smaller ones (if the stopper is good) will hold for ~2 weeks with ~1cm drop. Yours is not bad though.

And yes its better to not let it be fully emptied and warm up - even just a cm or 2 in the bottom - heating/cooling stress isnt good for the inner lining.

Awesome, but remember common sense when buying a used one:

1. Best to pressure test it first to check for air leaks (otherwise, if it leaks, you could die.............generally thought of as a bad thing). You losing that little probably means you're fine.

2. Best to use it in a well ventilated area (ie. tunnel of air in and out)

3. Be extremely careful handling the ln2. Burns = teh bad. Protection over exposed skin and eyes recommended.

4. Use it enough to smash every record you can ;)

I highly doubt dinos22 needs to be reminded of this, but it's good info for anyone looking to get into this.

yeah i was aware but you are right it's good to always remind people

also if you are benching on tiles wear some SHOES hahahah :D (no joke) heh

i have a dungeon i bench in and leave the front door open and have a pedestal fan behind me hammering the room to get some air circulating and pushing out of the room
