Hi there!

I'm here to ask you 'bout a problem that is really really ruining my christmas holiday!

Two days ago my pc returned to me from the technical assistence: i'd not usually gave it to the assistance, but they said it was impossible to change my broken audio board without verifying it was really not working.

When my pc returned, i noted a drastical fall in the 3d performance!
The 3dmark score was about 3000 (when i used to score about 14000+) and there were a lot of artifacts in some 3d games (Half Life 2 was completely unplayable, Stalker instead was perfectly running, while a little "laggy").

I was really upset, then i noticed the technical guys updated my mobo bios to 804 (i have an Asus P5E3 Deluxe wi-fi) while i used to have the 601 version.

Could all of this depend by a bad bios?
My pc configuration is the following:

Asus P5E3 Deluxe/Wi-Fi AP@n
Intel QX9650@3150 (450*7)
Corsair Dominator DDR3@1800
Asus Geforce 8800 Ultra
Creative X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty champion edition

Thank you!

You can also verify it in GPU-Z.

You check the serial numbers on the video card to see if you got ripped off? ie tech guy blows his video card and replaces it with a customers thinking they will never notice.......

When i had a computer shop I had a lot of customers come in with parts that had been stolen in this manner. It's a dirty low practice but it does happen, so its always a good idea to record your hardware serial numbers if you do have to send your machine to a shop.

downgrade to the old bios and see if the issues your experiencing go away worth a go anyhow.
Also was the sound card onboard or a card, if so why did you just not take the sound card out and give them that to test.

Im also working on a computer shop and I haven't even considered a thing like that  Scary stuff. Need to save my own serial numbers.

Hmmm sounds a little fishy to me. My mom sent her system in to be repaired a few years back and it came back with a different VID CARD and it wasn't an upgrade either I know cause I built the system. You realy need to watch these people now! I had to drive for 4 hours to deal with these Idiots and there excuse...big misunderstanding...It was sent in for a virus and spyware clean and ended up getting a downgraded vid card because they didn't think it was working properly all for $80.oo It was a radeon 800xt and they replaced it with a 9800pro.The Police were invovlved when they wouldn't give my card back ...By the way she is still running that 800xt.
