Ok so I finaly have my new build put together after all this time and hastle(see my threads dotted around XS this last 2 months heh)

of corse a new build would not be a new build without a new kind of problem would it ?

Se here is mine ..

When I open Catalyst Control Center and select a settings page with a 3d preview available on it .. something in my system starts to make a very unnerving high pitched "electrical" squeal, this does not happen however when Aero is enabled..and I have yet to test anything further then these two items in terms of 3d. Should be noted that I have used the PSU,Video card and Optical Drive in builds and boath have worked perfectly as far as I am aware.

Im thinking it is prehaps the motherboard that is causeing the squeal but its my understanding that mobos tend to do that when the CPU is "used" and not when the GPU is "used".

I am somewhat at a loss as to how to proceed as I quite franky am pretty "burnt out" as far as comp build issues go to say the least what with events over the last 2 months.

This build consists of -

Qmicra2 mATX case
Asus P5E-VM HDMI mobo
Corsair HX620 PSU
Intel C2D 6600 ES
ATI Radeon 3870
Samsung F1 1TB HD
Plextor PX760SA SATA DVDRW
Vista Home Premium

Did more testing.. the noise I am hearing apears to be comeing from ether the PSU or the CPU area of the mobo .. not sure which. Also to put a werid twist on this I ran 4 instances of RTHDRIBL which is giveing the GPU a real heavy work out (GPU at 98%) and the noise didnt show up, and to make matters even more werid still if I load CCC and go to a page with 3d preview with these 4 instances of RTHDRIBL running at the same time noise no longer happens...

Anyone have any thoughts/ideas/surgestions ?

Bump as I am still haveing this issue.. and rather confuseingly it seems to only happen when I am looking at a page in Catalyst Control Center that has a 3D preview running ..

Anyone care to hazard a guess even as to whats going on ?

This noise only happens when a realtime preview is running in CCC .. it doesnt happen under any other circumstances as far as i can tell.. this includes game playing and GPU/CPU synthetic stress tests etc .. you ever heard of a bad cap being this application and task specific ?
