View Full Version : 3d01 DICE run :)

last night i tested my QX9650 under DICE. The CPU sucks on air and water.....and also on DICE:(

Max benchable freq was 5300mhz with only 2 cores:(

I also put my 8800 ultra under dice, but my "luck" continued. after a fan falling down on the gfx my mod came of...WITh the small resistor:( I tryed to find alternative place to mod, but no luck. but i managed to get the resistence down a little so i had 1.4v to play with:(

But this ultra is very good. i was able to bench at 864/1208 with only 1.378v load on DICE:)

Anyway..here is a humble result. if i can find another mod for my ultra, and a better cpu, 100k is no problem on DICE:)

I tryed setting voltage to 1.18v and 3ghz to see if there was any cold boot.....lucky there was not:)

Big thx to "blossa" for the GPU tube :toast:

this 01 run is with 158.22. 169.02 gave a good nature boost, but i crashed in other tests do to unknown factors. next time i will run 169.04 for sure:) besides that...this run is fully tweaked.

Setup:

QX9650
ASUS P5E WS PRO (modded)
Ballistix PC8500
Galaxy 8800 Ultra
Northq GR 1000w

Very nice start my friend

With your talent and benching skills I'm sure you will pass 100K easy with DI :D

Nice run and not bad 9650:eek:
5412mhz on Dice is good I think:)
Is 1,378V the voltage of the Ultra?
Not try with 1,5V?

Thx for the kind words my friend :toast:

Nachty# stock voltage on ultra is 1.35v idle and, with my card, 1.26v load. I managed to get 1.4v idle and 1.38v load.

I cant try 1.5v course like i write above, my resistor for the vmod is broken of my card:(

Looks good Sioux, sad about the vmod.

Good scores as usual from you ;).

Keep pushing it 100k+ on dice.

Best Regards.

Uh, sorry, didn't read for entire your first post:rolleyes: :D
Well, 864mhz is very great at this voltage:up:
Tomorrow I'll try my Ultra @ DIce too:)

The accident with the falling fan is a classic one, k|ngp|n had the same thing happening to him, ripping the voltmod of a Striker iirc, rendering the board useless. :(

It's all part of the game unfortunatly.

Do you think it's repairable?

Nevertheless, good score you got.

yes...its a buggy little fellow that resistor:D I will work something out to get it to work:)

nice clocks and score, especially considering the vgpu of the ultra. once you get it fixed you'll have the 100k.

This guy had the same problem with the resistor coming off his GTX, theyre the same PCB, so it may give you some ideas

thx:) yes..i saw the thread some time ago. Some people claim to get the resistor next to the original working as an alternative mod spot...but it does not work for me:( But when i look in my loop, i can see the trace is still there, so there is hope:D

Oh, I should ask you the same question like I asked Pedro :)

As the run is pretty good ("fully tweaked"), are you willing to share a bit information, if not don't feel obliged, please :D.

SIOUX

Well...its the basic tweaks + XP Sp1. The real tweaking is mostly going on in regedit... Learn to control regedit, and you will be able to find many good ways to tweak the system

I have 4 regedit files with different tweaks on that i tested many years ago, and still use for 01 and 05 today:)

Expecialy Lobby tests LOVE tweaking:)

But its also depend on what CPU,mem and GFX you are running. Some tweaks works better on ATI, and some on Nvidia...same with AMD and INTEL.

For me, 98% of the plassure with OC, is to find out tweaks and optimasion...the rest is easyer:)

Sick DI clocks and score Kenneth! Dunno why you're complaining about such clocks---I think most would feel blessed to have them. :p:

5333 on dice is good, might need to play with vcore, droop or contact pressure. Could you run all four cores over 5Ghz?

I see a Las Vegas mug and the table is balanced on the cpu cooler box.

I am a total noob when it comes to tweaks. I am more the plug-and-try-to-play kind of guy :)

yeah:D my sister is in LV pretty ofen. hehe...it sure looks like the table is ballanced on the cooler bux, but its not:D its hard to see, but there is actely 30cm from the box to the table:)

I can bench 4 cores at 5150mhz.....i just see people benching 5300mhz ob vapo ls, so this CPu is just not good enough:(

Thx Everyone :toast:

what are you optimising in regedit
i only ever mess with it for SuperPi :) hehe

any reason why you use SP1 and not SP2

SecondLevelDataCache

Becourse they are also used for spi, they cant be used for 3d? :) I used them for 3dmark 01 all they way back to the 9800Pro...long before i started benching spi.

A lot of people have used those tweaks for 3d01 for years Dino´s...among others ofcourse.

not saying that
just that i already use them

interesting tip for FAT

do you also run Win2000

No...people stopped using win2k SP4 for 3d01 when DX9.0 was nessecary to run the newer grafikcards i guess.....i did.

using ATA have some advantages, such as higher PCI-E without corrupting the install.......

Is DX9.0 necessary to run 3DM01 with the newer gpu's? Never knew that.

No...but i think the GFX drivers we use now need it. And also i remember ati CCC and Cp need it:)

Only Ati or nvidia as well?

It might be interesting to see whether win2k would still be faster than XP with the current hardware. I doubt it, but I'll test for sure :D

Both drivers need DX 9 i think. I remember going to XP when X1800 came. i also think i tested the diff between the 2 OS at the time, and XP was fastests.....otherwise i would not have changed i guess:D

What has changed in XP that made it faster than win2k? Is it the support for the newer technology?

Great score! I am really looking forward to see more bench results from you.

I am glad you could use that ugly tube for the GFX. It seems to work ok... If you want to, you may shorten it a bit so you can see how much LN2 you have in it when you bench the next time. :D I just made it that tall to be 'safe'. ;)
