Wanted to inquire on how well you guys have been with overclocking the Q6700, and if I would really gain anything from my current rig. (See Sig)
I want to break the 4Ghz barrier, and think I can do it with the Q6700, as I have the Q6600 (B3) pushed to 3.762.
What are your comments?
The chip will be from the Intel Retail Edge Program. So, the cost was minimal for the chip, yet perhaps just a waste of cash?

3.9 ghz is the best I have been able to get with any kind of stability and that was with scary temps and Vcore. In general, I have not seen the Q6700 to be any better oc'ed than the 6600.

That's not good! I was really thinking that the 10X Multi would be the secret to getting this Be-Yotch to 4Ghz. Maybe, I just wasted the $274 on this chip, and should have stayed with my Q6600 @ 3.762.

Umm, you bought a q6700 for 274? Dang, that's a pretty good deal. Where did you get it from?
What's the batch#?

It is from the Intel Retail Edge program. I have one as well that I'm pairing up with a DFI P35 that I would also like to get to 4GHz if possible. Mine is an SLACQ L26A (I think).

I see you're using a 680i mobo, best I could get my Q6700 on that was 4ghz. Couldn't get anymore than that no matter how or what I tried.
But got 4.5ghz on my Asus Blitz P35 mobo :D

Thanks for all of the feedback! I think (perhaps) I could have wasted my money or have a wash from trying to upgrade from the Q6600 to the Q6700. I just could not avoid the temptation of letting the Q6700 pass me up on the Retail Edge Pricing.
So, at best it looks like I (should) be able to land 4.0 Ghz with a Q6700. I am at 3.7Ghz 24/7 with my Q6600. So, was it really worth the $249 to have an additional 300Hz? Proabably not. But this is the thrill of overclocking.
Thanks again!
