2.26B on an IC7 at 17X160 (2.272mhz 1.55v) 512 corsair twinx 3200 2-3-2-5 stock mem voltage, with a slk 900u and vantec 92mm tornado.

I'm hitting a wall at anything above 170 fsb. i've added voltage up to 1.6v but started getting concerned about temps. Almost 50C idle, I have another post about temp questions. They don't seem right to me. Went back to 160 so I could run the 4:5 cpu:mem divider to get my mem to 400mhz. The performance at 170 running 1:1 wasn't as good as the lower clock/higher mem frequency. So I really have two questions
1: Souldn't my ram be able to run at least a little higher frequency than it's rated? if it's higher than 400 it won't post, I upped the timings and it didn't help. I'm running it at stock voltage should I up that??
2. Assuming that my temps aren't to high, how much voltage should I add to my cpu? I've heard that anything more than 10% isn't a good idea, and I have no desire to toast my cpu, and I really can't afford different ram.

I ran a 2.66/533 on an IC7 and it went up to 193fsb. Your temps seem to indicate it's a heat issue, that memory will do ddr450 easy. Some IC7 Bios'es are just plain unfriendly to P4/533. I wanna think I was running 1.4

You absolutely must up the VDIMM. Thje Twin-X3200LL uses the same IC's as the Corsair XMS3500, so it will definately OC better. When you say you "upped" the timings, what were the settings?

I have the Twin-X3200LL, and ran it in my IS7-E at 280FSB 5:4. It needs voltage, so don't be afraid to put 2.8V through it. You can run 2.8V safely all day. Try SPD timing, when initally Overclocking, because their most likely the most stable at high speed.

I agree dude. If you want the high fsb you are going to have to crank some juice into those xms sticks.

okay I upped the vdimm to 2.8, that solved the post problem with the mem beyond 200mhz. I think perhaps the cpu is topped out, it will post at 2800 mhz 165fsb at 1.6v with 4:5. but won't load windows. when i went back into the bios, it started doing some freaky stuff. It locked in the bios once, and crashed out the bios once at those settings. It is one of the first P4B's fabbed, I got it in june last year in an oem dell. Maybe I hit the ceiling???
