Ive just voltmodded the vmem on my R9700NP(infineon 3.3ns), so far ive only been able to squeeze 320 mhz out of the ram at 3.4 volts. Im aiming for ~330 mhz. What else can i do to help my ram? This is the only vmod ive done, would the vref or any other vmods help?

Did you change the stock cooling out for better ram sinks?

Yeah, i cut up a small HS and slapped them on with some AS3 and superglue. They get warm during heavy load, but not hot

How small? i cut apart an old pentium passive hs for my card & mobo & do you have a fan blowing accross the ramsinks?

There not too small i hope, just a tad bigger than the bga chips, about 1/2 inch tall. And ive got a 30-something-cfm 80mm case fan blowing across them. Im looking for a good cpu HSF to slap on this baby, anybody have any suggestions? Im looking for something thats all copper that will fit on the card (about 60x60 mm). I was looking at an opteron cpu hsf (Tt venus 8+) and it looked really beefy, but it wouldnt fit that easily. Im hoping to hit maybe 380-400 core with the vgpu vmod

Vlad, i see you hit 720 on 3.3ns ram!
What brand is it ? How did you get it that fast?
Sigs like yours give me some hope for my 9700NP:)

Its ati & it took a while to hit that high. it hits 724 now but i only run @ that speed when i bench otherwise i keep it @ default. i find videocard core & mem to be alot like cpu's they go higher a
little at a time. when i first got it i could only get about as high as you're getting but slowly as i benched it went up, id push it to the point where it artifacted then shut it down & kept a house fan blowing over it. it hasnt been voltmodded yet & i never ran it w/ the stock hsf. i ran an old coolermaster hsf i had collecting dust but any hsf will work. use the stock one as a templet to mark the mounting holes then mark anything that interfears with mounting
& grind clearance. i have access to a mill but you can use a grinder, its not pretty but it works. you have to drill & tap the holes to 4/40 thread & use screws w/fiber or plastic washers from the back. you can glue it with alumnaepoxy but only if you never plan to remove it but i wouldnt. heres mine before i went to water. it took up the 1st 2 pci slots. good luck.

what vdd and vmem are u using?

i am using 3.05/1.29 and mem doing 345 now (around 13 MHz better)

should i go any higher on it? (i thought u r supposed to make vmem 1/2 of VDD.... but some ppl say high vmem makes their card just artifact)

vlad excellent results with that 3.3ns infineon ddr. I usually don't agree about burnin for a cpu or gpu mem. But after it taking almost 6 months for my R9700 to get 420+ on the ddr i'm thinking there may be something to this burnin after all.

Ragnarok you mean your Vref for ddr is at 1.29 and it'll still do 345? Damn that's crazy. I'm really amazed it can run like that. Maybe the newer Infineon ddr is less picky then in the R8500 128mb card days with 3.3ns infineon ddr. I say if your screen doesn't completely freak out then stay with 1.29 and just raise VDD. Personally i always ran Vref at 1.40 min with Infineon ddr. But hey stay with whatever works for you. You are right in that modding Vref or VDD may make things worse for some people. If all theese cards ran the exact same then we'd all be running the same O/C. For the life of me i can't figure out why some of theese cards just plain suck arse. I've had 3 R9800's that ran core and mem both lower than both of the R9700's i bought and that was even after modding em. Simply amazing the difference between the same brand and model vid card.

I had a Sapphire 9500 with 3.3 Infineon and it would do 324mhz stock! I'm thinking the chips were mis-marked or somthing. That card died, and the replacement only does the standard 297mhz stock......until I juiced it a bit.

yeah i could get 330 on my 9500pro with infineon 3.3 mem completely stock but i can only hit 320 with my 9800 infineon 3.0. Did i get dicked over or what
