some multipliers dont work at all, no matter what bios im using. 8x for example... the bios crashes ALLL the time i want to save something to it when i changed a setting. from 10x changing something in the bios and saving it, it crashes 8 times and i have to reset the bios  and thats at speeds around 2ghz and lower, my 1700 does 2.2 ghz easy... well at least it did on my 8rda+
the highest stable speed on my 8rda+ was (11.5x205) 2.35ghz with 2.1v
the highest on my nf7-s is around 2ghz... well it was stable all the time, but now i cant even boot with 2ghz and an fsb of 180 or lower... and honestly im tired of this board.
in all the years, this is the crappiest boards i EVER used!!!!
i really dont get why everybody seems to like it that much, to me its just a big pain in the ass , every time i want to change something even lowering the fsb 10mhz i have to reset the bios because itll crash whenever i change something
now do you guys think that i cought a bad version and should get another nf7-2 2.0 to try out or should i get an 8rda+ 2.0 or another board?
the only thing i like about the nf7-s is the active nb cooling and the 2.9v (results in 3.1v) on the memory. the vdimm mod on the 8rda+ is really nasty, but id rather do that then messing with this nasty buggy board i have now.

I am betting that you got yerself a dud board man.
This is prob a stupid question to ask you, but did you use a meter and check the bios battery?
I just got an nf7 and i feel the same way about it... on my 8rda i could do 235x10.5=2467 and get cpu to 2.5 if i wanted without a hitch.. now this board is so touchy and retarded i can't even do 220x11 and can hardly get my cpu to 2.4 and can't do same cpu speeds at different fsb.. i even did the L12 mod to 166 fsb and Vdd mod to 2.04. I know it's not my other hardware, i can do the same exact settings with memory SC 3-3-2.5 as i can DC 2-2-2 and my rails are stable at 12.2 3.41 5.25.. this board is soo touchy and wierd.

i think ill get an 8rda3+ in 10hours...
dunno, havent checked the battery voltage. but i really dont think thats the problem. when i flashed to the latest bios, the 17 thingie it worked fine for about 1 hour and some benching, then it started to get weird again. its not only a prob that can be battery related, as q149 says, i cant do 200x10 but i can do 220x10.5. well now if i set it to 220x10.5 it wont boot at all, even if i raise teh voltage higher than what i had it running at before....
i had it at 220x10.5 for 2 hours looping 2k1 then it crashed and now it wotn boot with 220x10.5. 215x11 however works but its not stable argh this board is just.... weird.... its great when it runs, but its realy hard to get it to work... and then it crashes and isnt stable at any speed... really really nasty#
the 8rda3+ has 2v vdd, 2.9v vdimm, 2.2v vcore and dual lan... dont really mind about the southbridge, so i guess this board is just right for me. no soldering , only need to attach the waterblocks and thats it. :)

LOL I was just looking in the manual for the same thing!

maybe its the "stop crashing randomly and raise the vdd to 2.2v jumper" :D
ahhhhh wouldnt that be nice? ^^
i just tried some other bios files and i cant even get it to work at 200fsb with any multiplier above 8. i can run 7x220 and 14x133... thats the max fsb and max mhz config thats stable... this really sux man i enabled and disbaled the cpu interface and tried everything... this board plain sux... probably a dud board, but i want 2v vdd anyways and the epox boards have a MUCH better voltage system and give my cpu fresh n clean juice :D and i like the epox green and the epox bios more too so ill get an 8rda3+ tomorrow in the morning  whooohoooo ill have my new board in 5 hours! yeeehaw : ))))

Yeh,,,these NF2 boards are just plain odd as hell.
saaya, believe it or not, some multi's just plain refuse to work at all. Heres one for ya, the same multi's you ahve trouble with, so do I on my A7N8X board. 9.5 works wonderfully, but 10.5 is a whore. 11 is great as well as long as the fsb isnt to high. The 10 and 10.5 can just bite my arse.
When are these damned companies gonna realize that certain people buy certain boards for certain reasons. Just make us a damned extra menu in the bios with a disclaimer that states changing these settings requires knowledge of system components and overclocking...then out a decent amount of vdd settings, vcore, and vmem and we WILL stop yelling at you in forums ya knum-skulls!!!! :soap:
Shew!! I feel much better now. But honestly, did they even test these boards out before they released them out into the wild??

i know, its the same here... but honsetly, its not "the nf2 boards", soltek and epox boards work great afaik, some older epox boards dont clock too well, but they have no bugs...
and about testing the boards... NO! they run a basic test if the boot and run 400fsb, but thats it... :/
yeah, like that cpu interface option... wth is that supposed to mean? why dont they let us choose from a bunch of little options to check what helps us most. some want more bandwidth, some want a high fsb... why dont the nf2 board have a bios like the cw boards with a bunch of little features you can enable and disable?
i always heard bad rumors about abit boards and never believed it... i guess my board is just a sucka and most nf7-s are pretty good, but man im not going abit sooner or later again... theres something seriously wrong with this board, its not just the bios battery or a bad bios version... hmmm maybe the bios chip itself is damaged? dunno... i dont really care anymore, i just want that 8rda3+ PERIOD ^^
i liked my 8rda+ a lot, took me 1 hour to find the highest stable oc (11.5x200) , thats how i like it, i dont spend all that money for a board with a bunch of bugs i need to fix like with this nf7-s before i can start some little ocing...
The cpu interface option greatly increased my memory bandwidth like adding over 10 FSB. I was using 14 bios and found it to be best(i guess). Anyway, i cracked and just sold it after having it for 2 days.. sure it's a great board if you :banana::banana::banana: around for 80 hours and find the perfect combo of fsb/cpu speed/multi that the board actually likes and that works great for you. With the EPoX when it's instable you know the problem.. MORE VOLTAGE! with the Abit it's just wierd. I think i am going to order a new 8rda+ and hope it's rev2 or maybe the Asus kt600 board to test.. what do you think?
I even got the thing to boot and run windows fine at 240 DC 3-2-2 but at some settings it would be unstable at 200 3-3-2.5 SC.. go figure

yeah , well said. when it crashes on an epox board its heat, lack of voltage or the cpu/mem/nb is maxxed out. on the abot board it could just be that this multiplier doesnt work stable or something else...
now im still not sure whether i should get an 8rd+ 2.0 or an 8rda3+ :/

8rda+ 2.0
8rda3+ i've heard all these horror stories of it not being able to prime @ stock volt stock speed etc...

i just asked liquid if he could give newegg a call to check if they have more 8rda+ 2.1 boards... if yes ill get one of those, they cost 83$ only. here id have to pay 120€+ and id get an 8rda+1.1!

newegg generally will not say which version they have in stock.

u sure? i called them once and they were really nice... there was a chineese lady that checked like 20cpus for me and gave me the exact steppings and all codes on them...
and they used to sell cpus like excaliber pc, they sold good steppings for 5$ extra or so and were guaranteeing that you get that certain stepping.

If memory serves me correctly it has something to do with changing the way the USB mouse and keyboard are reported to the OS.

I know what you mean, I'm thinking of ditching it and getting a soltek.
This thing has just been a nonstop pita.

dude i just flashed the 14 final bios on... so far its been behaving nicely... no crash, no bug and i seem to be able to run all multipliers and get high fsbs...

:)
Thats one thing tht confuses the hell out of me when I get an abit of asus board infront oe me, all the jumpers...
On an epox there are two, fsb and cmos clear.
It took me about 30min or reading the manual to work out how to setup a friends abit kt266a board.....
Oh, and I sent you a couple of PM saaya :)

the prob is not the amount of the jumpers, the problem is that they dont appear on any mobo drawing in the manual and are not mentioned anywhere...
i figured out that with this bios i cant use certain multipliers when i disable the cpu interface thingie... on the other bioses disabling it gave me 10mhz extra fsb

Nice might have to try that!
Well, i sold my nf7.. then i shorted it out and killed it checking vdd after switching resistors for the guy. I need to order a new board today, is there anything really good and cheap besides 8rda or nf7.. i want to try something kind of different. I looked at some Soltek boards but it looks like they don't have hsf mounting holes.

If you want to be different try a KT600.
They should be cheaper than nvidia.
I'm thinking about it.. 8rda+ for 83$ or Asus kt600 for 92$. Nothing else looks tempting in that price range.

@jaws ....well high fsbs in my case means 200mhz... :p:
with the other bioses i could only get 170 or 180
i still dont know what to do, but i def want to get rid of this board :(
a) get an 8rda+ 2.x
b) get an 8rda3+
c) get a new nf7-s 2.0
I'm deciding between Asus KT600 board or 8rda+ from newegg, the EPoX KT600 board is at newegg today.. it has no mounting holes and is 105$ though. Is it possible to get an 8rda+ rev2 in america? Anyone gotten an 8rda+ from newegg lately?
saaya
08-04-2003, 05:48 PM
i heard somebody got an 8rda+ 2.1 from newegg some days ago, not sure though...
The upper jumper is keyboard power on, the lower one is for usb vsb voltage I think. Enables power to usb devices when pc is off

Well, nearly there.:D
Well, i just ordered an 8rda+ from Newegg.. we will see what revision it is.
