Greetings,

Will Vista 64 recognize 4gb of ram?

What kind of performance boost can one expect using like 2-4gb ready boost flash drive?

vista 64 can do 32GB or 64GB im not sure what one, but for gaming u wont see a gain at the moment since nothign uses that much ram but if u do video editing large file compression or photoshop then u will see a huge difference in encoding time

and if u have a good HD then ready boost is useless since it moves ur pageing files to a usb drive and u dont even need paging files if u have a good amount of ram

You will notice a large difference especially in games going from 2 to 4gigs of memory in vista 64bit.

That I can assure you.

You might still have the 4 gig memory limitation if your board supports only 4 gigs of RAM (meaning: having a 64 bit OS installed with 4 gigs of RAM and seing less usable in Windows)

Make sure your Board supports 8 or more gigs of ram

His board does support 8GB of ram.

Thanks for all the replies...

I spend equal amounts of time gaming and working with 3D AutoCAD. The 4 gigs of RAM will be a must then.

Thanks

4GB makes a big diff over 2GB on Vista. I had 2GB then moved onto 4GB and now i have 8GB in my system as i use alot of memory intensive programs like Vmware. It does make the system run alot smoother and helps with gaming too.

do we have to install some sort of a hotfix in order to use all 4gigs of ram or will it just get automatically recognized by the (64 bit) OS

It should recognize it automatically. On some motherboards, you may have to enable Memory Remapping in the BIOS.

ok mine was recognized but I did not notice an increase in the pagefile. Is there a way we can increase the space for that, to further get more performance?
