Hi, I have some problems making up my mind on this...
I currently have the following system:
Abit IC7-G
2.4C
2x OCZ 3700 GOLD
9700 Pro
Prometeia Mach II
I can run up to 295 fsb at 5:4 stable at 3540 mhz limited by the motherboard of course so i'm thinking of getting Asus P4C800 Deluxe or wait for Abit IC7 MAX3 that might allow for higher fsb.
Would be nice to see what this little 2.4c can do, not limited by the motherboard, so what do you think?

@WizardB
im wondering that you can play 5:4 or 3:2 with ocz pc3700 on ic7-g
on my ic7 i only can do with ocz gold 1:1 till 255. 256 comes a wall for me :(
at 5:4 or 3:2 i cant't go over 250fsb.
in my other system i have a p4p800 and there i have problems with ocz gold, too.
i can do 1:1 till 233, but async without any probs.
cpu is a 2,4c that goes up till 283fsb
greets

S370sNAKE welcome to Xtreme forums !! Glad to see you here !;)
255 fsb is a limitation on the IC7 in bios, you can go higher using setfsb.
The OCZ gold is ment to be run 1:1, most cw/sd mb's have problems with it at 5:4 and 3:2.

I would start by impoving the nb cooling if you havn't already.
Definetly wait for the Max 3, or alteast until some peeps have it to play with. It should be THE CW mb of the year.;)

hmm I don't run the memory in 1:1 so I don't know about a limit at 255 fsb but if Major Slaughter says so I bet it's correct.
Anyway at 5:4 or 3:2 with OCZ 3700 gold there are no problems at all with IC7-G if you set the following things in bios:
Always set memory timings manual, since By SPD is bugged and sets different timings each boot
I use the following settings now at 295 fsb 5:4
2.5 7 4 3
You also must set Game Acc according to the following in order to get the memory to work correctly in ASYNC
Game Accelerator: AUTO
Refresh Cycle Time: Normal
Read Delay: AUTO
Read Delay Adjust: Disabled
Command Per Clock: Disabled
if you still can't run higher then 250 fsb check your Northbridge cooler and put some arctic silver there and a new cooling unit... :)

cpu is is cooled with zalmam 7000
on NB i had put some AS3
i had tried the same settings,
because 'eva2000' said that thats works for her with READ DELAY 5-11,too.
however i think my mobo was limiting me.
i tried 2 cpu's and mobos and rams.
i wanted to buy only one sys, but i thought my cpu or mobos limited me.
so i tried asus p4p800 as second and now i have 2 sys :(
my first sys is now p4p800 with 2,4c@fsb283 with 5:4 ocz gold
my second sys now is ic7 2,4c@fsb265 with 5:4 mdt/mci pc3200 (1:1@240)
because the good cpu @283fsb only runs @265-270 on the ic7 :(
today arrived the new rev.NB-fan from abit where is on the ic7-max3,too.
i switched the new nb-fan on and set the agp voltage to 1,65v and my sys becomes a little bit more stable.
now the IC7sys runs@fsb271 instead of fsb265.
i will try first to test with the bad cpu how high i can get now.
because everytime changing the cpu makes me crazy.
i want to sell one sys, but im don't clear what piece of HD are better and which not.
however if the ic7 is now stable i think i will pick for me the ic7 with mdt/mci ram and sell the ocz with p4p800.
because mdt sticks are 512mb and the performance is a little bit better on the ic7.

hmm strange, well the ic7 boards differs a lot from board to board i've heard so
Anyway i'm going for the following setup as soon IC7-MAX3 arrives:
IC7-MAX3
2.6C
2x OCZ 3700 GOLD
Prometeia Mach II
I'm pretty sure the max3 will run at 290+ fsb without problems
I hope to get pretty close to 4 ghz, I will posts results
as soon as I get my hands on max3

i hope that abit clears the bugs and then the max3 will be the best mobo for overclocking, too.
because i like more abit than asus with their damn powermanagement.

Yeah me too, Abit just has that little extra feeling of perfection in their BIOS and all over the boards too...
I really hope the max3 going to kick some serious ass!!! :)
hopefully the extra fans won't sound too much
