Hi!

I have some issues with my crossfire, as it doesn't seem to benefit me in any way.

System:

Q6600 @ 2.4
2x1GB Crucial BallistiX PC2-6400
ASUS P5E
2x PowerColor HD3870
Corsair TX650W PSU

I can go into CCC, enable crossfire, screen will flash and go nuts, then return to windows, with a cross in the box, all good.

I get only 13900 in 3dmark06, and my second GPU doesn't increase in clock speeds, like the main one does. It will stay at 300mhz on the core....

I also noticed that when having crossfire enabled, rivatuner reads only 1 GPU, and it makes it really hard to monitor freq, temp and to even OC.

Both cards are supposedly (since i can only make 1 work properly) OC'd to 837/1233 (standard 777/1125)... Main card clocks up when i use 3d, second card does not. I ran crysis in windowed mode with CCC overdrive next to it, since that is the only program that will show me clocks on both cards. First card clocks up and becomes heavily loaded, other card does not clock and no load.?? Same thing without OC btw, in case you wonder... and how come i cant OC at all in ATITool? it will just snap back to whatever i set it to in CCC.

All cards are properly connected, computer has no other issues. Formatted twice (not because of cards, other stuff i solved).

im really confused :(

i heard running your games in windowed mode will cause CF to not function. i don't know for a fact if that's true or not.

you can use CCC to overclock each card individually. just make sure you have CF enabled first. then go to the Overdrive tab and it will have a drop-down menu to select which video card you want to OC.

using ATiTool and RivaTuner could possibly conflict with CF too. i don't know for sure. if you want a good 3DMark run to see what your new system is capable of, do it without running all those extra programs in the background. Fraps, RivaTuner, ATiTool, and Quicktime are all programs that i've heard associated with CF problems in the past.

I don't have quicktime, and i uninstalled both rivatuner and atitool, rebooted.
Cards at stock speed (default) in ATI Overdrive, crossfire enabled.

Cores wont clock up unless i run games in windowed mode, which is kind of annoying. Lags as hell in fullscreen, atleast in world in conflict... crysis seems to work, but i don't think it uses CF.

Still, no matter what i do, i cant get 14k 3dmark... i think this system is much capable of doing that, so im kinda like ... bah :P

Same score as in XP32.
Yes vsync is disabled.

yeah, that's a tricky one. i'm pretty sure WiC doesn't have a CrossFire profile, so i wouldn't expect any gains in that game yet. i'm sure you know that Crysis will need the Crysis Hotfix until the 7.12 driver comes out next week. i know CF scales well in that game with the hotfix installed. if you have the full version (not demo) and aren't getting any CF boost, read this thread:

the 3DMark score is way low for your setup though. did you enable the CrossFire Impeller (or whatever it's called) in your BIOS?

I got a similar score at stock, Im pretty sure they are cpu limited when it comes to 3dmark because going from 2.4-3ghz on my quad core got me to nearly 16k with the cards stock. @3.5 its 17.6k. with cards oced its around 18+ (my setup though is 1 card at 16x other at 4x you should be able to net around 20k if you overclock cpu+gfx)

ya, i got something wonky going on too. WHat OS are you running? Have you tried running 3dmark without Xfire? If so what is the difference? I am confused too. Maybe this driver is crap. i am using the Crysis hotfix one. What driver are you using?

I am presently using XP Pro but am about to load a fresh copy of Vista64 for more benching. Ill post with more resuts.... See the images attached to see my Xfire enabled and disabled 3dmark scores. This cant be right.

I run vista 64, and i installed 2 CF/SLI hotfixes, and 1 Virtual address hotfix
I installed crysis hotfix

Running with CF earns me 13,6-900 over 11,000 with 1 card.
I think im getting a watercooler set for xmas, so i'll get back when I can OC my cpu... i also blame the CPU for the low score, actually

oh and btw, what the heck is crossfire impeller??

i'll google
