First test with aircooling for my QX9650 L739A664.
I think is not bad...not push the cpu to the limit...
SPI affinity to CORE#2

Tomorrow I'll try some 3d marks and SPI with a little bit more voltages:)

:(
Well, a friend of mine has test 1 york that don't go over 4.2Ghz aircooled.
Unfortunately with Yorkfield and bios 802 the lowest temp read from the mainboard sensor is 28°C on CPU:(
I don't know the real temps:(

why don't you take that 0401 bios on that maximus formula and you will have a better time and temp monitoring.

Nice chips at last.
What about prime/orthos/2xsuperpi32m?

12-16-2007, 10:34 AM
Yeah, I'm real curious about prime... I can easily do 4.8 at 1.6v (i'm on water), but getting this chip prime stable is a &%#@*!!!
have you given the good ole' P95 a shot?

Guys, be carefull with this chip above 1.6v. Also, I wouldn't suggest going over 1.55v without phase or at lest chilled water. There have been a couple/few deaths of the 9650's around. Victor just had one as most of you probably have now seen posted here.

Agreed. Sounds like that chip won't last long with that kinda voltage going through it. Still very nice. I too would like to see some prime95.
Also how about the temps?

Yes, I use high voltage just for short bench session, I won't kill my chip:(

Thx for the warning Victor's CPU death kindda scared me, I'll settle for 1.5 volts max then under water just to be on the safe side...still hoping to break 4.2Ghz then...

With bios 802+Yorkfield the min. temp read is +28C:( :shakes:
This is 2 tests with cpu under liquid and not the max limit:

My p5kd reads wacky temps also. Even on sub zero it's coretemp reads range from 22 to 33 per core. I think temps reads on these on asus boards are totally unreliable.

my board was giving proper temps with my q6700. just not this chip.

The temps problem with the Maximus is only with bios 702/802 and Yorkfield.
With 602 or lower version the temp readings are ok till -30 if I remember well.

-30? I haven't had an asus board that read minus temps in years.

hmmm , the why after all these years can't every single asus board read them. That kind of pisses me off.
