Which VRs?

Trying to find info on which VRs to use for the following vid cards. Ive done my homework and searched OCF/XS/TPU/HF/OCN/BlazingPC and others, but cant seem to find the specific info I need.

I know I can figure it out myself be measuring the resistance across the "to be modded" area and using an equation, but I want to get the VRs today.

7600 GT

FX5200

MX400

I'm assuming you know the resistance you need, just not the specific VR to buy?

You're probably going to want a trimmer VR, the more turns the better.

I had the brand Bourn's reccomended to me, so far they've worked just fine. 25 turns, so lots of precision. You're probably looking for soemthing like this:

Make sure you get the resistance you want, but these will work.

According to one of the VR-zone guides, I can determine the resistance by measuring across......across the solder points where the resistor would be placed and then using a 20X multiplier I think? I need to read the guide more thoroughly.

I could go home and do that, but I wanted to pick up the VRs (if possible, and if in stock somewhere I could find locally like radioshack) so that I have everything I need to VMod this weekend. Otherwise I need to go home, spend a few hours measuring resistances, and then go purchase which will set me back another day or 2.

Ok, found in the XS archives that a 1K Ohm, 25 turn VR would work for the 8800 GTX, although radioshack only has a 1K ohm 15 turn VR, which should work out ok just a tad less sensitive.

Any other advice for the resistance on the other GPUs appreciated.

Google is your friend, you'll need to find vmod guides for each card then. Make sure that the card pictured in the guide is exactly like yours, don't want to ruin a good card for no reason. While all the 8800s are the same, some older cards vary from brand to brand in design & layout.

Glad to hear you found something at radioshack, I've had no luck at any of the ones around here.

So I have been searching around further for more resistors. If I am going to mod other GPU and potentially mobos, I will need a wider variety than what is currently available to me locally.

What wattage rating resistors do I need? I see 0.5 watt and 0.25 watt. Does it matter which one I get?

How about the %? What does that mean?

ie. TRIMMER, CERMET, MULTI TURN, .5 WATT, 10%, 1K

What does the 10% mean?
