There used to be a driver hack for the 6/7k series of nvidia video cards to enable SLI functionality on any dual PCIex16 MB.
Does anyone know of a similar patch for the new 8k series?
I have done a ton of searching and found nothing. Please post your findings.

to my knowledge there isn't anything yet to run that type of setup.
I haven't seen any hacked drivers.

It almost seems that SLI/CF is more of a branding issue than a specification issue. The gap in the market right now is finding a MB that supports both SLI AND native support for memory 1066 FSB (false marketing claims aside).

Sorry to say that until Nvidia and Intel start talking, there will not be any new SLI motherboards with any other chipset than Nvidia's. Seems the 780i chipset is also delayed, not that I would expect much out of it since it is just a rehash of the 680i. I also would not expect those guys to crack the 8 series driver set to run SLI on other chipsets. Nvidia has pretty much threatened the people that could and managed to completely ruin the chances of others as well.
i remember reading that the HP Blackbird has a striker extreme mobo in it with a hacked bios that'll run both SLI and CF on it..
now to just track down where I found that lol

I read that somewhere too ^.
"The Mothership
The motherboard is listed as an HP Gaming motherboard on the spec sheet that came with it, and that’s because it’s an Asus Striker Extreme that has been tweaked by HP to run both Crossfire and NVIDIA SLI. It’s one of the most well-known “money is no object” gaming motherboards in existence, with switchable perimeter lighting, on-board controls for CMOS reset, restart and power on/off. It’s also a great overclocker, and uses the fantastic NVIDIA 680i chipset. It also has three PCI-E slots, so you can run SLI and a PCI-E PhysX chip, if you’re into that."

I wouldn't use fantastic and 680i in the same scentence myself. THat bios is almost guaranteed to be locked to their PC's somehow, just like current Nvidia drivers are locked to prevent any tampering for 8 series cards.

I think you can....
However think there is a noticable performance hit. :)

sli on non nvidia chipsets is blocked by nvidia using more than one software lock afaik. it can be circumvented but once thats done the next driver will not work anymore... so youd never be able tp play the latest games properly since you cant use the latest drivers...

I would bet that HP has to pay Nvidia a nice little lump of $$$ for each of those fancy SLI/Crossfire ready PC's and also promise to fully lock the drivers to said PC. I can't see them just allowing it to do that without being paid since Nvidia threatens pretty much anyone they find with modded drivers.

If you mean HP´s Blackbird, CF on SLI mb is fine.
but not SLI on CF mb, as saaya pointed out.
