Well i just found this but its probally old news to most......

GeForce 9 : D9E in February and D9P in June
Posted on 30/11/2007 at 20:50 by Nicolas - source: Digitimes

According to information from graphic card manufacturers, starting February 7th Nvidia will offer a 65nm high end GeForce 9 (D9E) which will support DirectX 10.1’s Shader Model 4.1. A mid-level model (D9P) engraved in 55nm will follow in June.

D9-type nomenclature will not replace the code name (Gxx) and therefore does not correspond to a specific GPU but rather the product’s positioning on the market. We should expect the D9E and D9P to be around 500€ and 200€, respectively.

Note:
These should be SLI Tri Card capable from what ive read in other forums...D9E would refer to High end models GTS/GTX......which are only type of cards with two bridges to run Tri Fire:D

If this holds true the D9E= Enthusiast Cards ...This will put an end to current GTS/GTX as it will become the replacement .This will be interesting...

its about time .....bring those new cards on instead of re-makes of the old series...

i think this will be more of the same anyway. isn't D9E supposed to be dual 88GTS cards bolted together a la the old 7950GX2? i don't think any of the Q1 stuff will be next generation hardware.

I think that they're referring to the next gen card. They are coming out with a 8800gt dualio, but I think a little earlier and cheaper. (all of this based on web speculation mind you)

I betcha it will be a while longer until true next gen. They are bound to give the dual G92 card at least a few months of life..

I have a feeling this is just more 8 series, or maybe finnaly the 8900's. I got my money on 8900's.

but i guess your right, as long as ati doesn't put up some decent competition nvidia will keep on milking us with old products instead of releasing a really new card.

Unfortunately ATI wont be giving nVidia any competition for quite a long time to come, their new roadmap shows R700 in 2009 which is a long way away. ATI are going to need R1000 in 2009 in order to keep up with nVidiais current rate of development.

There 3850/70's seem to be doing quite well. All they have to do is put out a revision of them every 4 months in 2008, and they will be golden! lol

When I read that on Inquirer, I hoped that this is a mistake  Otherwise this will be the longest ever progress stall in 3d gaming performance history. We had something like that with 9700->9800->9800XT - this was quite long as well.

both companies have stalled. i can't help but wonder if the slow rate of development from both camps has anything to do with DX10 and all those empty promises from Microsoft. so far, DX10 is nothing more than a marketing slogan.

How have both companies stalled?? The 8 series just came out barely a year ago. How the fvk is this a stall?? I want it back to where its at least 1 1/2 years between generations.

No, AMD has stalled, which has allowed Nvidia to ease off and milk their current lead.

who knows? most PC games are just ports from the consoles now anyway. maybe they're holding back on next gen hardware because they know no software (besides Crysis) requires it.

I can only imagine it has too do with Tripple Sli....so this could be a really really good thing...This way there will be something to Overclock againts those 4xAti mobos ,,:D Hahaha once ther up and running..At least thats what im guessing...

I think Nvidia is just teasing us with GT/GTS G96/G92..In anticipation of its next release....So far its working....The prices will settle down eventually and even a GT@$199.00 already fills the MidRange Gap very well 4Price to Performace"]

They do sell like moms hotcakes:D Now if they release a E series dual card and even one 9800GTS or GTX its still one step ahead like Way Way Ahead...I dont ever remeber a Nvidia card released from FX5200 on up that dint sell like hot cakes ,even a Dual 7950 was short lived ,but its engenuity survived and im shure its alot better too:D

excuse my spellig and typInG:ROTF:

1 1/2 years  I want the new gen to come out in sept. Crysis rapes my 8800 GTX. I want to run it maxed, but nVidia feels it just has to sand bag away. Every 6 months new cards should come out.

Well you shouldn't be judging your GTX just yet with crysis until they release there performance optimization patch. And plus you shouldn't even judge it based on Crysis anyways cause they said Crysis wont be able to be fully maxed at high end reso's until the next generation of cards. Look at other new AAA games that arnt from the future to judge it on, and IT rapes all of those.

I want it back to where its at least 1 1/2 years between generations.well, that would be kinda nice, since i don't have the money right now to upgrade ever year. but why did this have to start exactly when i stopped getting the top-end cards and settled with a gts! :(

i was thinking "half a year from now there'll be a new card faster, smaller and cheaper than the gtx" ... boy was i wrong. now i'm stuck with this gts cuz i'd still have to pay like 150 to upgrade to a GTX...and i know exactly, if i get a gtx today then nvidia will announce a 9800 tomorrow

...And plus you shouldn't even judge it based on Crysis anyways cause they said Crysis wont be able to be fully maxed at high end reso's until the next generation of cards.who said that? only thing i remember is cevat yerli saying it would run smooth as silk on a 2900XT or GTS640 at 1280x maxed.

Crysis ran like Butter on My GTS 320......1280x1024 ...I dont like real big Resolutions....But the Game looks increadibally nice on a 320...It plays very smooth..Sometimes you need to ignore FPS when testing game first hand:yepp:
