Did some preliminary 3Dmark06 runs 3-Way, I really need a better CPU and/or unlocked multi in order to get this score higher :D
System:
EVGA 680i
Intel Q6600 @ 3.9GHz on Custom Jinu Phase
EVGA 8800 Ultra x 3
G.Skill 4GB 1GHz
Vista 64
Here is a 3DMark06 comparison, one thing I noticed is the Canyon Flight test way faster in 3-Way.
3DMark06 (These two tests were run at 3.7GHz)
1280x1024
2-Way SLI= 17,364
3-Way SLI= 18,341
My best score with this setup is 20,284:

no wonder, its the only GPU bound test. its way faster in 4-way mode too ;)
Can you post the 3DMark06 details? how much do you get in Canyon Flight?
would be interesting to see the 2560x1600 score too (noAA, noAF).

Hmmm...what clocks were used on the GPU's for the 3DMark 06'?
JacobF

Well I made the mistake of not submitting my previous runs :( But right now I am getting 119FPS average in Canyon. It boosts the shader model 3.0 score by quite a bit.
Also clocks on GPU were at stock.

What driver version of you used ?
Thanks :)

In COD4 I get 90FPS at 1920x1200 16xQ/16x IQ set to HQ  Driver 169.25

dang only 1000 point increase?
jimmyz
12-13-2007, 09:53 PM
only 1300 points higher than i get with 2 x3850's ($350 dollars) and a dual core cpu vs. your quad.http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=4103809
you would think three ultras and a phase change cooled quad would do much better.

We're going to have to start benching with everything maxed out on these multi-card setup's to see who's really the boss.
Nice rig jakUp, what PSU are you using?

TT 1.2KW toughpower.
My PC Power and Cooling 1KW couldn't handle the load, this 1.2KW is rock solid, decent rails under load too :)
I got a new 3DMark06 score:
20,284

jAK, your CPU score is way too low for some reasons... that might bottleneck the whole thing... My Q6600 at 3,6GHz does in the 5750 and at 4GHz it does 6150...
Might wanna check for that...

Remember I need to run in Vista for 3-way, also memory clocks was 1GHz 5-5-5-15, with a higher FSB I may get a little more out of it :)
This system is in badly need of a reformat though.

I use both Vista Ultimate 32 Bits and XP Pro 32 bits and the CPU score for both does not change that much... I just checked again and at 3,8GHz a quad usually do about 5930...

Something is definitely not running right. My 3850's and a dual core are beating your rig in Firefly and deepfreeze and only three fps behind in proxycon. canyon flight you destroy mine by 50 fps so it doesn't look right. something is not set right. I would definitely reformat and try again.

06 at 1920x1200 or 2560x1600 too please =)
jimmyz, you are comparing 4.4GHz vs 3.95GHz in CPU bound tests (GT2/HDR2) that dont use 4 cores. of course your score is faster there.
Canyon flight is GPU bound - so it should show a big gap.
also, its Vista vs XP.
I think the score is about right. 3-way just doesnt shine in this benchmark since its mostly a CPU benchmark with default settings (low 1280x1024 res.)
again: 1920x1200 or higher please :D

Nice testing Jackup :)
Please run 03. Its the most GPU-limiting benchmark of all 3D Marks :)

Here's an 03' for you ollie :D....made a push for 100K all air cooled and nearly got it last night:

Another 300mhz on the cores and 500mhz on the cpu will bring.....?....?...? :D
Mother Board is NDA till next week, good thing you cant see it :D.

Score seems to be a bit low jakUP...?
I would have thought we would have seen around 22k with tri-Ultras...
What do temps of cards get to?
Mother Board is NDA till next week, good thing you cant see it :D.

You can see the crazy NB heatsink though. :p:

That is wrong!
Check my XP PRO (x38) vs VISTA (x38) 3DMARK06 thread...
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=169442
XP PRO will give you a 5% better overall score, and a 10% better CPU score.... (at least on quad cores)
If there was a way to run that 3-way SLI in XP PRO, this guy would be getting a 21.5K score instead of 20.2K.

Thanks for the screenshot Vince :)
That looks more like it :)
The mainboard looks familiar ;) Too bad I only have access to 2 Ultras.

I still think crosfire wil be teh real deal with 3 or more cards :) no shabby results though...
Could you run 01's nature with LOD @ 4.9?
Really wonder what figures that will give in 3way SLI.

nice runs Jakup:toast: with a new CPU, that Crisis game standing next too the puter will fly:D
and damn..look at the score in 1900x1200 :slobber:
IMO 3cards for benching is to much for me...but for gaming i would not mind:D
EDIT: oh yes...please try a 01 nature to see if there is any gain:D

Jakup!!! i'll bring some cpus over. Me, you and ev can do some benching on your rig. I say since you still have your other gskills we bench in 2GB. drop that latency and overclock the gpus and BAM!!! 22-23k easy!!! LOL!

not everyone that works for EVGA gets to play with Tri-Ultras.........you lucky bastages!!!!!!!!!!!
I need to get that TT1200W from Ev.................anyone want to loan me a few $$$?
Hey Jakup, think Joe would let me Step-up from 8800GTS SLI to Tri Ultras! :-P. I can dream right?
Wonder how tri ultra would do under water, probably a 120.3 for the three cores.

hello :) great stuff, i think the score is a bit low for tri sli, i have GTX sli and i do 20225 3dmark2006, whit old drivers, please test crysis whit 3 way and show us some results
all that 3 way sli makes me wait for the first of you who puts 3 pots on the cards - maybe a challenge for kingpin finally? :D
4 pots (inkl. cpu) would make the system look like a monster. the results until now are indicating true benching potential :slobber:

why is everybody bashing tri sli!! do people not understand its gonna do bad at 3dmark06 on lower res?? did you not see his 1920x1200 results.. 19000+ i'd like to see 2 gtx's pull that off at that res...

I think people were confused and thought that his runs where at default res (1280x1024) and not 1920x1200. I have two 8800GTX's and scored 18500+ at default res.
On a side note, I have my TT Toughpower 1200w PSU up for grabs in the "For Sale" thread.

I doubt even a 3.9 ghz quad core, has the CPU power to allow all cards to max out, when at low resolutions like 1280 x 1024.
its pretty clear once you see the 1920 x 1200 results.
either try going higher in your res (max AA and such out too)
or .....
well, thats my last idea I guess, haha.

4.5 65nm doesnt show any extra scaling for the third card compared to normal sli afaik.
