Has anyone tested any adhesives with DI? I'm looking at making a super cheap NB pot with pipe and a cap, figured I'd ask before I tested it with whatever I can find.

I would imagine some glues might get eaten by acetone, but that jb-weld and those mixable epoxies would do just fine.

Experiences? I realize soldering or brazing is better, but humor me.

i asked my machinist this question, he said adhesives to join metals wasn’t a good idea in our application, ie when liquids are involved, specially since the tube is heated and cooled which could cause a crack, specially at low temps as things shrink. Best is to braze the join, or use a threaded join with an oring to ensure liquid tight seal.

Eh I could solder it, which should hold fine right? Threaded is out of the question, as this would probably just be a few inches of pipe and a cap from the hardware store.

I just figured it would be a lot simpler to use a good adhesive. It's well below freezing and windy pretty much constantly now so using a torch is just a bit of a PITA. (my garage is full of moving stuff ATM so no room )

Anyone succesfully used an adhesive? I might test a few just for giggles, see how they hold up to acetone and temps.
