Installed 10kohm vr on 9800 for vmem. I checked the vr before install and had 9.76 kohm. after soldering to legs it only reads .468 kohm . I am not sure this this can be correct. I am also not much of a electrician either but this just doesn't look right to me. SHOULDN'T IT BE AT LEAST AS HIGH AS THE VR WAS SET BEFORE SOLDER? Somebody Please educate this WV Hillbilly on what this should read!

Hi havn't posted that often before, but i hope to clear it up for you.
So your reading should be right.
Say VR is R1
The Resistor before soldering was R2x (what i search for)
and your reading was Rg
the formula is 1/Rg - 1/R1 = 1/R2x
so 1/468 Ohm - 1/9760 Ohm = 1/R2x
R2x = 491,57 Ohms.
or backwards
1/R1 + 1/R2x = 1/Rg
so 1/9760 Ohm + 1/491,57 Ohm = 1/468
When you put 2 resistors in parallel, then is the resistance smaller then the smallest resistance of one of the resistors.
When you lower your VR your resistance lowers itself too but not that drastically.
So for example 4000 ohms on your VR.
so 1/4000 Ohm + 1/491,57 Ohm = 1/437,77 Ohms
I hope you got it, and that i haven't made that many errors grammatically.
