my 8800 gts is running at over 65 degress celcius idle at stock clocks and our weather is pretty cool. there are some artifacts in games like the big alien gun in crysis is a giant square. is it possible to get a diffrent one from the warrenty or do i just have to stick with it. btw its a stock clock evga 8800 gts 320mb.

just turn up the speed of the fan and it should work fine and if after you turn it up pretty high(70% or higher) and you still get artifacts then maybe you should RMA.
also don't assume your hardware sucks if you didn't even try to find a solution to your problem

It cost me $64.00 delivered So for me to go from 320 to 512M in memory plus all the otehr little things, has got me excited, I might even do a SLI down the road if I like the card.
Damn, that is a heartbreaker, but ebay is still getting 200 to 250 for GTS's 320M
so if you don't mind taking a hit or don't like you current card, you could get a 8800 GT for almost what you sell the GTS for
but I would hurry on that one...

dude just turn up the card's fan if you haven't first. also it might just be dust in the heatsink that needs to be cleaned.
so instead of having your PC down for like a week it will be down for 15 minutes

The point is he shouldn't have to. It should run fine straight out of the box, not be required to run something to make the fan run faster than stock.

Turn up the fan and if it still :explode2: its gonna be Really Mad Again Time....
If i remeber correct ,,when they send you the (RMA New Card ) its now considered new but its value will be the same as your origanal.. You will then pay any differance +Tax Shipping if you use the Step up on the new card.....I could be wrong ,......The Worst case you sell the Card that is sent to you as if it was a new card wrapped in the box...But with a little discount:yepp: Use that money to buy 8800GTS512mb and be happy.:D
There is no sense in keeping a faulty item that will only get worse over time...Use your Warranty:yepp:Ask EVGA since You Are RMA'ing a new Card ,See if they would be willing to step you up for the differance of the RMA Card..You never Know.....They do try to take care of thier customers,so it dos'nt hurt to ask....

your case is an Antec P180. i have friends with that case and some of them have reported high video card and northbridge temps as well. i believe the design of that case can starve video cards of fresh air if they don't have all optional intake fans installed (wiring can become a mess in those cases if you aren't meticulous, too). try making sure you have proper airflow through the case before going to the trouble of returning your card. if you have to return it, i've heard lots of good things about EVGA's customer service. could be worse.

Yeah.. get a 8800GT, just as long as you don't want to play UT3.

I think you pay for everything
that's great, you dropped the idle down 10 degrees with that, the big issue is to find out if your keep getting artifacts, then it's a bad card and that sucks, it would be tough to live with that, so RMA that sucker
aldave
12-13-2007, 07:38 PM
is there an easy way to test for artifacts? because i dont wanna replay a game just to test, im just playing team fortress 2 now but dont get artifacts in it

Hey ,, ALL nvidia cards benifit Highly if you keep the fan set to 100%...The 320 is not a loud card period....My 8x120's are loud!Hek my silent 750 PSU is louder than my GTS at full swing.....
If you paid over $300.00 for your GTS 320 you can get the 512 for $299.00 tax shipping...They give you the amount that is on your reciete toward the new card....The newer GTS is little cooler and Faster with a Bigger fan....
It is well worth it comming from a GTS320 , Especialy if the GTS320 is OVERHEATING...
If it comes down to a money thing make shure you step it up for your Birthday present before your Step up ENDS!

i have a theory that dual slot coolers benefit from positive pressure inside your case (more CFM on your intake fans than exhaust fans). if your case has negative pressure, your VGA fan has to compete with your case fans for air. if you have positive pressure, there is plenty of air to go around and your video cooler can work more efficiently.
at least that's the theory. i never bothered to do any testing.

+2  Also heat rises so if your Exaust is at the top the better!

can you ask them if they could set you up with a cross-ship? i dont see why they would have a problem with that, your credit card will just take a hit for a few weeks till they get your bad card back
