I'm getting a new IT7 Today and am curious.

To get the most out of the FSB speed is it better to use a 1.6a or one of the new 2.26a woodies.

Help please

Do packdates seem to matter with 2.26a's?

Well I was bad

The IT7 turned into an Asus P4T533-C and I had to get a couple of PC1066 sticks of RDRAM to go with it.

At least I stuck to my guns and got a 2.26a woodie.

Well in this case the 1.6 will get you 2500 Max and the 2.26 will only get you 2650 Max. This Asus mobo will only do 156 fsb Max. If you want to save some money go for a 1.8 for 2800 max.

how sad....
17x156 = 2650 MHz .... the humanity!

I think i'm gonna cry for that poor CPU being held back so much

Magi Presto and it turned back into an IT7 on the way home.:p

I shoulda known there would be some kinda gottcha with an Asus. Especially after my A7V333 experience. The benefits of having a cooperative local vendor are hard to beat.

and higher but i needed to go to bed

IT7 for me nevermind i tried an asus board A7A266 supposed to be ace b4 they came out what a waste i will never buy asus again and thats withoud modding the voltage

Yeah I had TWO new Asus A7V333 and neither one can hold a candle to my Abit's...shame ASUS mobos have features and performance if you want to spend WEEKS trying to fiqure them out, Abits kicked its butt right out of box and no more wacky crashs,"CPU- Memory failed tests" notices

Get a 2.26

Well based on original question that is exactly correct.

With a 2.26a I could run the FSB at about 175 for about 3Ghz at a 1:1 ratio but the mem bandwidth wasn't extactly anything to write home about.

I've got it (the memory bus) running at 220Mhz using 3:4 with my 1.6a.

It's gonna be interesting seeing which lends the best overall level of performance once I wrung everything out of the 1.6a that I can get.

Now I've vmodded both chips and am interested to see what I can get outta the 2.26a at more than 1.7v
