View Full Version : vista x64 and nvidia
I plan on getting a new gfx card and the 8800gt is definitely where its at. Has anyone else been encountering the nvidia-x64 issues my friend has? I was having the same issues when I went xp x64 trial with my nvidia mobo and gfx so I want to make sure it could have just been something gfx related and not drivers
the main issue he's had is the screen randomly turning black (sameone I had when I went xp x64 for a short time), and so he bought xfire 3870 (sold the 8800gt on a different forum to someone who hasn't encountered any problems with his 32bit os) and hasn't encountered any problems since

Using an 8800 GTX on Vista64 for a couple weeks now I have experienced no issues.
Played EQ2, CoD4, WOW, Jade Empire. I'm using drivers 163.75. I also installed the hot fixes for Vista recommended by Nvidia.

no issues here either with vista just install all updates and additional hotfixes such as for large copying of data to an xp machine which was one of the bugs I had. The o/s though is getting faster all the time with better drivers every day.
run css, unreal torny 3, crysis dx9 or dx10 mode all fine

No issues here. I'm using the 169.17 drivers that are posted the news section, along with the NV hot fixes.
I have been wondering the same, where can I find a list what hotfix/patches u need to install with nvidia/ vista bugs or what so ever

There's a list on Nvidia's website. They have a specific page for that info.

thanks for the replies, now to decide between the higher fps or lower price of ati vs nvidia (tight budget, and cooling setup is very important)
hey m8 if u play DX9 games allot, U could run dual boot:D, as I did. I use vista for all other applications except gaming will be on XP
I could, but I'd rather not, running two OSes sucked up too much of my 160gb hdd's space and also it slows down your boot time by having to chose between the OSes
