I and one friend of mine made a little review of that CPU finnish language:
mato78.com QX9770 testissä (http://mato78.com/artikkelit/artikkelit/testissa-intel-core-2-extreme-qx9770)

It really is damn hot CPU, at 24/7 clocks 10x420MHz and 1.45V Vcore temps are constantly 72-82C when crunching QMC.

What, do you mean that it will run cooler if I rise voltage?
Weird...

No it won't. Where are you reading thses temps from? They do seem too hot for 1.45v and water cooling. Have you checked your block mount to insure good contact? Are all 4 of your cores way hot? See if you can get coretemp beta from the author that reads penryn's better.

Everest, Coretemp is not working for my 64bit Vista.

Temps start rising fast on air once you go above 1.35v.
I was seeing up to 61C with 1.35v priming, and 1.3875v saw up to 72c.
Seeing that change delta and his water temp looks right on the dot....
