Ok, anyone out there runnin a 975x chipset, and a set of the newer 3800 series cards??? I'm wanting to see if the whole x16 bandwidth thing is all that it is hyped out to be with the newer chipsets....:cool:
Benchmarks would be nice, if availible....:cool:

i have two 3870's on a 975X motherboard. as far as i can tell, the 8x/8x works pretty damn well. here are some screenshots - my 3DMark06 score is low because of my relatively slow CPU, not because of any chipset limitations. all game screenshots are downsized from their original 1680x1050.
i also upgraded from a pair of X1900's (one XTX and one CF Master Card) to the 3870's. i'm very happy with them.

this one is the FEAR Perseus Mandate demo. not sure if the demo has a CrossFire profile or not. i never tried it with CF disabled to see if my framerate is any different.

i also average 60-90fps in the Sniper level on Call of Duty 4 with full max settings (4xAA/16xAF).
here is a Lightsmark run @ 1680x1050. i don't know if this is a good score or not. i didn't run Catalyst AI in Advanced to force AFR mode and see if it's any faster. and as far as i know, this was the older version of Lightsmark. in case you couldn't tell, benchmarking bores the living daylights out of me. i'm one of those dorks that buys video cards to play video games with :shocked:

Dude, THANK YOU for the info, seems ill be a keepin the DBX2 for a while yet...
Those crysis screenshots are well within playable rates, i also have COD4, and run everything i can at 1650x1080, so the info was much appreciated...:cool:
It would be cool if AnAnd, or some of the other sites did a comparison of the 975x and the X38 in crossfire, just to see a "proven" difference...

agreed. afaik, the extra PCI-E bandwidth isn't necessary yet, but i'd also be interested in any comparisons. the only ones i've found so far are X38 vs. P35.

lol did i see you on a CoD4 server the other night? i'm having deja vu here.
good news. i have a friend with an E6750 (which is basically the same as my E6320), a brand new X38 motherboard and two new HD3870's. his CPU overclocks a lot better than mine, but he agreed to run some benchmarks @ 2.8 (400x7) and we can compare his scores to mine. i'll report back on this thread. the only real difference between his system and mine will be the memory timings, but that shouldn't make much of a difference. i can loosen my timings to match his if i'm feeling real scientific.

an E6750 (which is basically the same as my E6320), It isn't.
E6320 = 1.87 Ghz FSB 1066
E6750 = 2.66 Ghz FSB 1333

I plan on picking a couple of these cards up, and seeing what they will do with my Quad......:cool:

come on now. this is an overclockers' forum. you think my friend and i run our CPU's at default clocks? the only practical difference between an E6320 and E6750 is that the newer 6750 will OC farther than my older chip. but we can both run our CPU's at 400x7 for the test and our setups will be identical except for the motherboards.

oh, thankyou mrbungle & friend :clap:
look forward to seeing your results, i am very interested in this myself.
x8 PCI-e 1 vs x16 PCI-e 2 with hd3870 crossfire will be revealing
if you can match your ram timings (and core/memory clocks?) that would be even better :D
