Ok, so I went down to get my PC back - had someone checking out the issue I had while I was away playing golf :) they told me standard failed Crucial...so hey, I got a good deal on them...now just have to go through the send them back phase.

But while I was there I was thinking about retiring my old P4...so then I see they had a good deal on Quads...and the need for Quads is extreme when it comes to WCG. So, after asking if they had any 6600's left, all they had was a poor little 6700...so I snapped that up instead...then I decided I needed a decent Mobo to allow for upgrading etc...so I got myself the P5EWS...not a bad little beast at all...so then I decided to add on a 2GB HyperX from Kingston.

Well my morning picking up my PC ended up costing me a lot more, but damn I am happy!!!!!

So by tonight, another Quad in the farm. Although a very small 2 PC farm, I am looking at it being a "petting farm" for now :ROTF:

I will let you all know what DDR2 is coming out of the old machine too...then if anyone wants it I am happy to send it on :D

I just could not determine a reason not to upgrade and have 2 x 24/7 Quads sitting at home crunching while I am out of State working. It is only fare that my apartment be used for something...and the off-set of the reduced lights / TV etc makes up for the huge increase in power when these two will be running 100% :yepp:

Fighting one temptation is tough enough, but when you have the need for speed AND the urge to splurge. . .

Who among us has the power to resist? Let him cast the first quad (in my direction - pretty please).

I have the power to resist! My wallet and my car dictate so and I must obey.... sigh

I am broke and in need of a mobo right now so I am trying really hard to wait till after Christmas so I can get a decent socket 775 board for this 955EE to get back up and running.

buying a house really puts a damper on the impulses to buy a new computer. Basically it's kept me from snagging a Q6600 off the intel discount service. But I know i'm not going to be able to resist when a QX9650 hits there at $500 and i'll be one of the first ones to place an order.

Screw you mortgage!!

How much of a discount do you get and you would mind buying a couple extra?

I used to work Lancome and got 50% off of everything including L'oreal, Biotherm and a bunch of high end perfumes like Lauren. Needless to say I had a bunch of female friends around that time.

There is a middle ground..
Screw Stabucks and tuck a little away daily.
Then when they offer you that $500.00 QX9650 you can write the check and not worry about having to sleep on the sofa when the Mrs finds out!

(Damn, $500.00 for a QX9650, I'm jealous!):shakes:

Thanks. Will see how it goes...should be easy enough to O/C to a desired level for WCG. I just want people to understand that this was bought purely for WCG :) I have not even used my original "gaming machine Q6850" for anything but WCG either... :ROTF:

If all you have is a K6-550 then ahh, I really don't know what to say.
K7's weren't bad in their time but K6's..ahh...well..

Yeah. Exactly. Trust me--I know the feeling all too well. When sites crash because the companies are ad-happy... damn I hate Flash. I'd have more pride in my running machine if it was a 486 then this piece of c**p.

I would like to know that too, I haven't yet made up my mind if I should go into the car-producing industry ot the semiconductor industry... Well, there is still some time left to make a decision.
