Ok ... so iIm upgrading from a E6600 to a Q6600. Currently my loop consists of the CPU, NB & SB. My worry is by adding the Q6600 to the loop it will destroy my temps. Right now with my E6600 @ 3.6 are hitting load temps of around 50-53c and idle temps are around 39-42c. I was thinking of taking the SB off the loop to eliminate that source of heat dump and using a VC-RE to cool it. My question is does the south bridge even warrant to be water cooled ?? Was I "overkilling" it ?? I'm using a PA120.3 w/ yate loons in push pull ... can that handle everything or should I just at least remove the SB off the loop if i'm adding a quad. I plan to overclock & my ambient temps aren't great as my girlfriend is for some reason always "freezing" so my temp is about 76F.

SB doesn't deserve to be water cooled.

so that 40Watts of heat extra, add another rad or separate loops

Temps won't suffer that much. Expect load temps around 60c or so.

Okey, first off, the SB isnt doing anything to your system because it will generate very little heat compared to everything else. The NB will also give very little heat on a totally non stressed system.
The PA120.3 is such a great radiator that it can take what your running and then some. The Q6600 will not be an issue as long as its the first block on your loop. The watercoolant can only reach ambient temps so your not going to get any better temps by removing them.
I cant believe the responses on this thread. The PA is good for around 500-600W? (im guessamating this, but i know it should be near) of heat on medium fans. Now unless my math is seriously fubard, he's not even pushing half that overclocked.

I dunno man...I was running three OCed quads on a PA 120.3 and bonnie heatercore for the farm... And was getting great temps at load.

I think people are nuts (or have loose wallets) when they stick a PA120.3 into a CPU only loop, quad or not.
You either have a bad mount or your flow is awful... try changing that and your temps should go down.

i vote bad mount for sure, maybe too much TIM. for comparison my pa120.1 +dd TDX on an e6600 @ 3.71 with a d5 gave me only 44c load orthos 12hrs.

i think his setup looks something simular to this.

And whats wrong with a PA120.3 in a cpu/board loop only?
