I have a 8800GTX and the resistor that is used in the VGPU mod has come off. I have a few of the same part to replace it with and I am practicing the job on a old 5800 card. It is SO HARD!!! Every time I try to solder the thing it sticks to the solder, the same thing happens when I attempt to tin either one of the ends! The thing is so light and I'm extremely frustrated right now! Can someone please tell me a technique to do this so I don't go mad! I'm using 0.022mm hi-tech rosin core solder (I also have 0.062mm) and a relatively fine tip 30W iron. I have been able to successfully perform the vGPU mod but this is much more difficult! Please any help would be great!

First, you have to remove unnecessary solder from pads - you need to wet them a little soldering flux and touch each pad with soldering iron once. The pads should look like this 1,2,3:

Then just put the resistor on its place and hold it with a wooden toothpick (do a little press at resistor's center), so you could solder at least one side. Then it's not nessesary to hold it - you can solder another side very easy. The 5,1K ("512") resistor on the photo (above "3") was soldered in place of "70b" with the same method.
PS Sorry for my bad English :)

I had to solder the same tiny resistor.. Though mine was much harder as i only had one of the pads rip off by accidently pulling on the wire after it was soldered on.
Make sure that both ends of the resistor still is tinned or it wont solder to the pad. Also MOST important is when you go to solder one side and it dont stick DONT go back at it right away! There tiny and you dont want to over heat them. So give it like 30 seconds before you hit it with the iron again for the part to cool off.
Also make sure the part is still good befor eyou go soldering it back in.. Test the resistor with a Multimeter first. It should read 33-34 Ohms. if you cant get a reading then its damaged.
You'll have to find another resistor that reads 33-34 ohms. Just because you have resistors at the same size dont mean its rated the same.. test them first.
How to solder this thing:
First clean the area with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and a cue tip. Then add a tiny bit of solder flux to both solder pads. Using a pare of tweezers put the part in place. Take a tooth pick and possition it perfectly. Then take your solder iron and clean the tip off with your sponge. Now wet the tip with a little bit of solder.
Now while holding the part inplace with the tooth pick. Touch one end of the part and the solder pad at the same time with the iron. Wait 30 secs and repeat with the other side. It should be good now.
Clean it again with the alcohol and examine.
Now in the link above i've pointed out other areas to attach the volt mod for the GPU so you dont have to try on the same resistor you just fixed.
Also if you dont have the same resistor to fix it you could use a vr set at 34 ohms and solder that insted.
If theres no pads left then theres still a way to fix it as i've figured out where the pads are connected to for alt solder spots.
