Specs are in sig... I finally updated my BIOS after more than a year, and finally, Ive been missing the multipler change ability.
I decided to play withthe multipliers a little bit to see how far I could push my E6600. SL9S8 L624A762. Bought it the day Core 2 Duo was released last year.
Some 8x multiplier fun... I know CPU-Z is reporting the multiplier as 9, but its not. I know my RAm could be at 4-4-4-12, but I wasnt thinking when I did that. All I wanted was high FSB. I know I was going in huge jumps, but those are FSB's I know my chip can do. For some reason it craps out around 385-400 somewhere. No matter what volts, I just cant get it to 3600MHz. Im going to tighten the timings on my RAM and that should drop times a bit, but what else can I do?
My rig is currently at 9x356 for 3200MHz, RAM is 4:5 @ 890MHz @ 2.2v. Im going to change that back to 1:1.
As you can figure out from the pictures, the first one is at 2800MHz, the other is at 3000MHz. Pi times are around 15 even currently, but also at about 15 even when at 8x375. Added another for 3080MHz with adjusted RAM timings. Super Pi time dropped considerably.
What can I do to both increase my FSB/overclock and decrease my Pi times? Havent really been this into overclocking since I got my processor. Set it at 3.2 the day I got it and just now started fooling with it again.
