God how this game got released like this is beyond me. I literally have to uninstall/reinstall the game after every mission. After each mission as soon as the console comes up it just freezes and I have to go into task manager and shut it down. Then it will do it everytime unless I uninstall/reinstall. I love/hate this f'ing game.

My CoD4 install doesn't work on 64 bit Ultimate. I get as far as the dialogue box that allows you to select single or multiplayer and it won't load from there. I bought it via Steam. Anyone else see this problem?

I am on a completely stock system. Everytime I get to a new level it freezes. Just the game not the system. Don't tell me I'm doing something wrong. I didn't do anything. The system has run every other game I've played just fine. I'm not saying the game sucks. I'm saying I hate this bug. Any other game I would have just uninstalled it and sold it. I love the game just wish I could play it through without this crap.

if you have any hope of fixing your bug, you need to give more info about your system and programs running. posting on the activison help forums would be your best bet.

I have done countless searches over there. Everyone seems to have a punkbuster bug but no one seems to be having the same problems as me. I will put my machine in my sig.

Any other new games that you recently purchased run all buggy?
if its a hardware prob then you will see in on all games...
so start playing with drivers...try latest. And if that fails check older drivers that you had success with in the past. I have in the past tryed all kinds of older versions of a Vid card driver to get a game to work.
CoD4 is a DX10 supported game if i recall...try that route too.

I have tried every driver possible with my card. No other games have run buggy on my sytem. Have played Bioshock, MOHA demo, Civ4, WIC. All of them have run smoothly. Just played another level this morning and it didn't crash so maybe it was just those levels.

I have a similar setup to you. (Q6600, 8800GTS 640mb, 4gigs of ram all on stock). I haven't had a problem though, sorry =/. The only thing weird about my game is the single player. I get this weird choppiness when I turn sometimes (not video lag). It got really annoying in the sniper mission. This does not happen on Crysis or bioshock. Ive tried different Nvidia drivers, OCing my CPU to 3Ghz, and changing a myriad of in game settings to get it to go away. What makes it strange is that the multiplayer runs fantastic.

Nope, CoD4 is only DX9.
I guess you have installed the 1.3 patch for CoD4? I know there shouldn't be any fixes for this kind of problem but you never know. So try that if you haven't done so. Otherwise it seems very weird, I don't have problems even with my crappy pc nor does anyone I have played with CoD4.
