i am running
core 2 duo E4500
asus p5ld2-x
sapphire 2600 pro
1 gb ddr2 8000 super talent
40 gb of disk

I would want at least a good quality 430w PSU for that but I'm a big beleiver in overkill on PSU's..

Exactly what I thought. Is it an OEM or a decent A-grade PSU?

I am with Dave on this one but I think this is just a normal bsod from winblowz! You need a good fdisk and reinstall of winblowz. :D

You should at least list the brand, model and specs of that 300w power supply, because not all 300w psu have the same specs. besides, i would say 380w or 400w is the least i would go. A good choice would be the antec earthwatt 380 or 430w psu, cheap and very stable.

hmm will Xilence Power XP400 or Power LC420H 420W handle my setup?

LC420H sounds like it is made by L&C which is utter crap. A lot of L&C built PSUs start with LC in the model name. Not sure about Xilence, haven't heard of them.

And that is a pretty decent brand etc...and 420W should be sufficient for it.

i just wanna add that i have a xilence nt, 480 W. Has cost me 30€ new, and it is really good. Silent operation and very very stable Voltages.

My main rig (q6600, 4gb ram, and 8800 GTS) is running off a 320watt Antec PSU. :)
It's been running so for few months now.

Even my dual Barcelone (8 cores) rig only consumes 170 watt total at full load.

Ahah !
I threw it away as soon as I got my new BIOS chip for Tyan mobo. Yes, it is MUCH, (I am not kidding here), better heatwise.

L1N is a garbage and a failure (in design).
