COD4 MP Cheats, Punkbuster Flaw?

Was playing COD4 online last night, and noticed a guy called sky-scraper cheating.
He obviously can see through walls, have a huge amount of health, and would always pop up behind you with a knife, when one second ago he was in front of you.

The server had punkbuster on, but is there a way to still get around it?

Anyways, was very amusing playing against him/her, would always appear in places where there was a lot of people. All i had to do was stand a distance behind my team and he would appear within 5-10 seconds in front of me!

Even the best of them have trouble beating punkbuster, and when they do, they usually don't distribute, and even rarely sell the hacks, due to the fact as soon as they circulate punkbuster is updated.

Thats my point. If it was distributed around punkbuster would catch on to it. However, this person showed a great lack of intelligence. He had cheats that would give him a huge unfair advantage, but lacks the real ability to exploit it.
Which means that the cheat is probably easily available.

It's sad to see people cheating, but this guy made my day rather amusing actually.

BTW, forgot to mention. When you get killed, COD4 shows you a couple seconds of how you were killed (providing the server has that enabled). When this guy killed you all you would see is him standing still, doing nothing normally in a place far away from where you were killed.

Just pity them, this is just like hackers and malware software companies going back and forth. I'm sure punkbuster figures out some of the hacks, but like clone said there are sites that make them for money.

There is always a way around anti cheat software. I have been involved with Americas Army Server Admins (AASA) for almost a year now and have caught 600 people myself through screenshots. Punkbuster may catch on to public hacks after a short period of time but the private ones are much more difficult unless you download them and see what kind of hooking routines they are using to circumvent pb. Its sad but this is the way it is for most online games.

I've been playing CS for years, and used to play CoD1 MP... people will always find ways around anticheat software, you just have to deal with it and switch server until they leave.

Yea I saw a guy who had all headshots, never nothing but, he would kill 5 people in a spray of bullets 5 headshots BS

He was just super leet, I can seriously get 5 head shots with only 2 bullets, so I must be way better...

On a serious note, aimbots can sometimes be used that don't alter any of the mem or game code. They can pick up a selected color etc, making it hard for people to add protection against it in punk buster, because sometimes as soon as they start dissallowing some background services other things start playing up. Like alienware used to get picked up as a D3D wallhack lol. And some custom windows themes the same.

That is why some hacks are difficult to deal with. And after I learnt a little bit about extracting game data and injecting hacks I pretty much stopped playing online. I realised how many people could be potentialy doing it and decided I'll stick to offline RPG's.
