I received one X38-T2R sample from DFI company. I don't have more time to test all. I just test Retail Yorkfield FSB 450 stable quickly and share some pics to everyone.

This mobo will be available on Motherboardpro within few days.

Here is mobo pics.

Can you maybe test max FSB on a E6850 with high limits? ;)

Excellent photos and awesome board, just like all LP's. It's nice to see that "Thermalright style" NB heatsink, but may become a problem when installing huge CPU coolers.

What size fan does the northbridge hs use? It looks like a 60mm maybe? I have this on preorder from motherboardpro, so just trying to get everything ready for it's arrival!

Thanks for this. The bios options are a mirror image to that of their P35-T2R board.

The UT version comes with a SB/NB/PWM cooler connected by a heatpipe, it also comes with the transpiper. Other than that the UT/LT boards are electrically identical. Personally, I believe the LT option is a better solution here, as I find the transpiper included with my P35-T2R to be of little use (not totally useless, but for the added costs it's not worth it).

I've heard DDR3 support will be on a model named X38-T3R.

Thank you sir for posting!

The BIOS is very similar to the DFI P35-T2R, as one would expect, but the CPU VTT voltage can be set to 1.73v with X38 vs 1.6v with the P35, that should help with higher FSB's. that is if the board doesn't go up in flames above 1.6v vtt :hehe:

Question: In all or you guys' esteemed opinion, is this gonna be a board that is hard to find/out of stock a lot around Christmas time or January?

I want to get one, but with my recent purchase of a 3870 and a new case I should hold off till the new year, unless of course, it is worth it to get this first opportunity.

I would get it judging from the performance already established by the P35 it can only be better especially with the added PCI-E 2.0 and extra bandwidth:)

Very interesting results, I was considering to get the Asus Maximus formula, however I just found out our neighbour Germany, will get some samples upcomming friday, for just 199 euro , cheaper then then the average cost of a Maximus formula of 220 euro here........ But I still dont know if I should get it based on this pre-results or wait, as I am not familiar to DFI and more with ASUS and the DFI BIOS is pretty advanced it seems....very hard these days choosing a motherboard.

what paste do DFI usually use, under their SB and NB heatsink, do u need to heat it up in order to get it off, or it is really easy to remove it right out of the box. ( looking for peeps who did this with the P35 T2R, would probbly more or less the same on this board)
man I saw @ the maximus thread it seems to be a pain in the ass to remove the junk they used there. And would a Thermalright Extreme fit with the Stock NB heatsink?

I will test under LN2 soon.

Vcore is accurate when you enabled Vcore Vdroop Control.

But this mobo has a problem with memory 4:5 . Maybe it's X38 problem because ASUS Maximus also has this problem.

Soooooo, I guess it's either wait for the X48 to go all the way with DDR3 or get the LT and make the best of it ... BTW, have you looked at the Noctua chipset cooler? The NC-U6?
http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/3817/xoxide1975468633301f58bfc8.jpg
I have it on my DFI Infinity975X and my NB temps are much lower than when I had the HR-05 on it. Besides, the Noctua has a much better retainer system. A good 60mm fan can fit on it as well and the NB stays well below 34C ... just a thought ...:)

Manufacturers just can't win. Most complained that the P35 was not available without heat pipes when first introduced. Now that the X38 non-heatpipe version is being released it's the same but opposite complaint. Other then the onboard cooling solution both versions of the X38 are identical.

Sad but true. I will buy the no heatpipe version, because the cooling is enough and if I want I can put my own aftermarket cooling solutions without worring about stupid heatpipes.

The up to 1Gb DDRII devices is the actual chips on the PCB. The specification your question is addressing is 4 240-pin DDRII DIMM sockets max 8GB. The board will support 2x2GB modules.

i also read a email by dfi itself in some german forum.
In the mail someone from dfi says that UT has been cancelled to keep pricing of the board attractive - also in regards to the fact that X48 is around the corner. It wouldnt make sense to release UT at premium price and it might put off people or just make them wait for X48 instead. Thats what i got from that email.

Is it the PCIE 2.0 on X38 board give more advantages than P35 ? (can show the reference if got)

Main reason you should pick the X38 over the P35 will be CROSSFIRE

If you dont have plans for this, P35 is good enough

Also far as rumors go, the UT will be EOL

it will be a higher premium on that chipset w/out any
big performance increase to justify it over x38

it really sad that the one person who has had this board for nearly a week hasnt posted and further results

Guess when we out our boards, we will have to test it out ourselves

291.99$ (http://www.motherboardpro.com/DFI-LanParty-LT-X38-T2R-X38-Motherboard-Socket-775-ATX-p-405.html). Ouch! Maybe I'll wait for X48 then.

you dont need to wait x48 will be 350$ lol
you think thats expensive lol i paid 225$ for a crappy p35 board
and the p35-ut is 260$
x38 can be a monster board with right bios

Maybe the X38-T2R will be 200$ by then, hehe. I just can't believe the price of mobo's these days + it seems like there's a new chipset every couple of months now. My 965 has served me well but I'd like to get some newer tech for wolfdale and maybe the option of crossfire ta boot.

if i waited for my p35c i woulda paid 50$ less but i dont like waiting
but then i woulda bought a p5k if i woulda waited 1 more week
if i waited 2 more months i woulda got the p35-ut
i almost bought the p35-ut  now i wait for his big brother:D

i remember paying 300+ for a p4c-800-e-deluxe and that was years ago loved that board funny i used it for 2 years n sold it for 300 on ebay lol

dont wait too long time passes by fast prices drop but by the time prices drop something better comes along:rofl:
