Some unknown change was done in the bios on a older MB w/ a Celeron 633 processor and now the box only gets as far as the 'Starting Windows' screen. The owner wasn't sure what was done. (Don't ask why he was in there.)
What has been done so far:
1. Loaded 'Setup' & 'Optimum' defaults in the Bios,
2. Cleared the CMOS (jumper).
I can't get in safe mode either. There is only a single Profile for 'Last known configuration'. NO hardware changes have been made.
Any ideas??

Why are loading optimal defaults instead of actually going through the BIOS and making any necessary changes...

Well, why don't you help the man and tell him the necessary changes?:)
What OS? XP?
Maybe boot into the XP disk and start the repair console?

When I read 2k, I don't think of Windows 2000... I think of a machine that costs $2000. Sorry.

A $2,000 box with a 633 Celeron processor??? There is one hell of a salesmen out there.
Loading the default settings in the Bios disabled Pwr Mgnt. I did see that the first time I look at it and changed it, but for some reason it didn't 'stick'.
I changed it back again to ACPI and all is fine.

I was going to respond to his post about the $2000 price tag with the 633 Celeron, but didn't....
Glad you got the machine working properly again....
