ram question

so guys this week my gaming rig will come. i left 2 gb ram geil 667 speed from the old pc. my new pc has 2x1GB DDR2 PC6400 Corsair XMS2 (800 speed). so im wondering if i can put the other 2 gb from geil with the new two, so im gonna have 4 gb of ram. if i can do that... i will have problems? if yes what kinda?

your 800, will clock to down to the 667 speed I think, but it should work I may be wrong though:yawn:

It will only underclock if is in the first channel and you have not manually set in the bios.

You may have to put it in the first channel and test beforehand
just test it and see if the geil will do 800mhz speeds which with any luck it will do with ease.

slacken timeings to like 5,5,5,15 2t with 4gb and just then again test, test and either tighten timeings or keep clocking:shocked: (or leave at stock)

For mixed ram, you should never leave memory timings to Auto, it's pretty much guranteed to screw up. Set the timings manually to the timings for the 667 sticks, add the 800's, and slow clock up from there.
