I just purchased a set of

Crucial Ballistix Tracers

http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=BL2KIT12864AL804&cat=RAM

and already have 4 Gigs of regular

Crucial Ballistix

http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=BL2KIT12864AA804&cat=RAM

will this in any way limit my overclocking or will I have any issues running two different kinds of ram ?

One more note: I realize I can only run 4 1gig sticks so 2 of the regular ballistix are going back to frys .

My experiences in the past with mixed ram is the system will run at the speed of the weakest stick. Does that make sense?
As far as overclocking, I haven't tried this with mixed ram and always assumed it would severely hinder my efforts. This was just my take on it but I could be wrong.

As said, as along as your have the memory dividers to run all of your sticks at the weakest stick's speed and timings, overclocking should not be hindered much nowadays.

It used to be that more sticks created huge timing problems since the memory NEEDED to run synchronous to FSB to have decent performance, but not anymore.

these are the sam ram, d9's BUT above is correct.. you will see the weaker of the two as in any multi stick.. that being said, there is no gaurenty teither will be weaker.
