Starting to spec out a system. Only thing I do on the machine is surf and play WoW.

Here's what I'm considering.

Q6600 Q0 or E6850
DFI P35 TR2 or ABIT IP35 Pro
Some 8800 GT card, whenever available
Tracer pc8500 2x1 gig
Corsair 620HX power supply
Drives, probably a couple 300 sata 2 drives
All will fit into my cooler master stacker case

Suggestions, comments, concerns?

Well that spec will murder WoW and surfing ! What PSU and case were you thinking ?

Yea I figured anything would be a good system for what little I do on this machine. I do occasionally burn a dvd/cd, encode a movie, etc.

I edited the post with the PSU (Corsair 620HX and Cooler Master Stacker)

But I guess what I'm concerned about is not utilizing the quad core. Should I get the Q6600 or e6850? Does it really matter and am I just thinking too much about it?

Choose the Q6600. Otherwise the parts look good.

I would go for the Abit P35 with one PCI-e lane. Or even the IP35E. Not much use of a high end mobo with generaly simple tasks.

I'd say go with the dual core instead, 4 cores isn't much use right now (unless you're the type to leave 5-6 big programs open at once), and you can save a bunch of money and maybe go for 4gigs of ram (which again is pretty overkill, but if you're out to spend money, that's a better spot to spend it on the long run)

Or even 2x 8800gt SLI'd. Or a REALLY big monitor (I know WoW guys need big monitors).
