Let me start off by saying, I absolutely love this game. However, its very annoying.

I started playing online at enjoyed it. Then I started running into problems.
It just seems a bit ridiculous what I've gone through to play this game online.

1. Problem: Kept getting kicked by punkbuster, no packet flow.
Fix: Update punkbuster, which when you bought the game through steam you have to do manually.

2. Problem: The ill-fated iw3mp.exe has failed to start.
Fix: Update sound drivers.
*This one made me furious. I had been playing the game for days without issue, go to play and bam, iw3mp.exe problem. WTF?

3. Problem: Getting kicked by Punkbuster, again. Unknown windows api function.
Fix: Turn off Steam friends overlay while in game.

Seriously, this is getting insane. If i run into any more problems, I'm done.

Anyone else think this is getting out of hand?

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Be sure to get 1.2 which was released 2 days ago.

I was running 1.2 before any of the problems started.

I know i'm not the only one, a few guys from work are having the same problem. Maybe its just the steam version as thats what we're all running.

No it is not. No-CD files are exactly that, they let you play without the disc in the drive which is a must anymore. I hate looking for a damn CD when I want to play a game.

People will use it for what they will, but it doesn't have to be illegal. I use them for all of my legitimate store-bought games.

Hence the reason I like steam. No CD's (DVD's) FTW!
