my two cents: go for the ati/ intel combo. but you would be fine with either. don't worry so much. the stress will only make you old.

Swap the E6850 for Q6600. There's going to be more and more games that have quadcore support and G0 Q6600's overclock pretty nicely. For the videocard/mobo question I will say Intel P35 mobo and HD3870.

if youre going single card do the p35 and i would stick with the 6850 its much faster overall especially for gaming. as far as vid cards thats a toss up.

I agree. There's no reason to get XFX 680i motherboard and one 8800GT (and I don't think you need SLI). You'll be able to get an other high-end gpu later, that will be more powerful than those two SLI'ed.

right now, e6850 is still faster in some games (not by much though, especially when ocd), but the quad will age better. I am personally going with 3870cf and p35 (cheaper than one current high end card like 8800gtx and faster to boot, and more stable than an nvidia chipset), most likely getting the dfi p35 board, though I swore off buying from them ever again... just gotta hope that I don't actually have to deal with their support, I guess if I have problems I'll just emulate dfi support myself and photoshop me a screenshot with a "it works for us" message scribbled across.

i agree but ide go x38 chipset, and cf isnt needed but intel chipsets are the top so if u have money left xverxfire could be nice
