my system is not yet into PCI-E and I need to upgrade my Nvidia 256mb FX5500, what VidCard would you recommend?

Cons: ATI's Catalyst Control Center (CCC) is a pig. It requires MS .Net Framework 2.0 or later to be installed. It's slow and cumbersome to use. There is no control panel, beyond WinXP's basic, without CCC being loaded. The DVI-VGA adapaters did not work... they locked the computer at boot up. I thought I was going to have to buy a DVI capable flat panel but I tried it with an adapter that came with my 6600GT and that worked.

seen some reviews of that card, is this bad?

catalyst control center is on the driver package suite for all ati cards.. it's the equivalent of nvidia's control panel... it's part of the driver package.. that review sounds like someone complaining about it.. I bet the same user would complain about nvidia control panel.. so if he's not going to use a nvida or ati card, then what else is left. ;)

the pro listed is even better than the gt I linked. just more expensive.

here's an nvidia, if you prefer that. pretty equal to the ati's mentioned here.

GeForce 7600GT Extreme 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card

personally imo, I'd go for one of the ati's...

thats not equal the 1900 pro/xt are the fastest agp cards nv has the 7900gs but thats about as fast as an x800xt and the 7600gt is slow in comparison to a high end cards it is about as fast as the 6600
