Maybe I missed something but I haven't found a way to update the Asus bios (EZ flash or whatever it's called) when using a compact flash drive built into your A:\floppy drive. Is there something I am missing as it uses the same USB as a USB drive? It simply doesn't recognize any usb devices. I am not sure how it would recognize USB drive!

As you can see no option for other devices except A: and C:. C: drive is not the same as C: on your hard drive its something else and don't know what directory it is.

AFAIK Card devices are not bootable, USB Flash drives are. They both use USB, but they are different devices to the USB interface. Their firmware will identify them as such to the USB interface.

I tried updating bios on an Asus M2NPV-VM board and it was a disaster. I had call Asus and have them overnight another bios chip. I will NEVER do that again. On the other hand, I've never had a problem flashing from floppy. I know they're ugly and virtually useless, so if you absolutely don't want to have one in your system I can understand, but it is still the most reliable method. If you go with ez-flash and a usb drive, just have the Asus tech support number and a credit card handy.
