Vienna, November 20th, 2007 - Noctua presented today the latest model of its successful NH-U series: The NH-U12P is equipped with the new NF-P12 fan as well as the NT-H1 premium-grade thermal compound and continues the legacy of Noctua's classic NH-U coolers, which won over 150 awards and recommendations from leading international websites and magazines.

"We continually work to further improve our successful products", explains Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "The NH-U12P doesn't only provide better mainboard compatibility, but thanks to the use of the new NF-P12 fan as well as the high-grade NT-H1 compound, the NH-U12P also brings its predecessors' much-acclaimed quiet cooling performance to a whole new level!"

While retaining the successful design and the well-proven SecuFirm™ mounting system, the NH-U12P offers improved compatibility with mainboards featuring very high chipset coolers thanks to its raised fin-stack. The NH-U12P comes with SecuFirm™ mounting-kits for socket LGA 775, AM2 and AM2+. Mounting-kits for Intel Xeon CPUs are available on request.

Fitted with the high-grade thermal compound NT-H1 and the new NF-P12 fan, which has been specifically developed for high-impedance applications like CPU cooling, the NH-U12P is a further improvement on the award-winning performance of the NH-U12F. Due to the psycho-acoustic optimizations of the NF-P12 fan, the NH-U12P provides the same degree of quietness that has made the NH-U series so popular among Silent-PC enthusiasts. The fan's well-proven SSO-Bearing guarantees maximum long-term stability and in conjunction with the NT-H1 high-end thermal compound, the NH-U12P is a quality package through and through, ensuring excellent performance and outstanding quietness for many years.

Price and availability
The NH-U12P will be available on November 28th at a recommended retail price of EUR 56.90 / USD 64.90.

looks like a nice cooler, but these guys have to know most people won't justify $70 shipped for an air cooler.

Nice, if only they would replace that pig-skin housing and the brown fanblade with a more suiting color it would have a higher appeal to the market.

wel to be honest it would be better to simply buy a high end cooler on ebay or such. Today's prices are just ridiculous .

I'm a happy Noctua NH-U9 user, but TBH this looks pretty lame. They are pretty much milking the SilentPC crowd because the Noctua Fan has a very good rep for being extremely silent.

The heatsink looks exactly the same as the NH-U12, so I'm guessing that all they did was slap on a different thermal compound, include an updated fan, then charge a $30 premium. I'm sorry, but I really don't think that their fans are worth the price gouge you pay for them. Yate Loons are extremely competitive in price/performance/noise.

Nice, but I'm not a fan of that colour. should perform well though.

Couldn't you just take your old NH-U12 and put the newer fan on it and use MX-2 instead to get the same basic result? That is, if you had a NH-U12 already.

who cares what color the fan is.
a fan can be replaced.

what matters, is the heatsink itself, and how that stacks up to the competition.

EUR 56.90 / USD 64.90

 at the euro / dollar conversion

they are in the price region of Thermalright, so that cooler would have to have a really good performance to be competitive.

i rather just take the fan and chuck the heatsink at someone :P

I have to admit, that is one ugly fan.

Hopefully it performs well, though.

Am I the only one who LIKES the fan colouring?

Like anyone really cares, like 70%+ put the damn cooler inside a closed case, and the rest want leds anyway.

I just hope they decided to use a different mounting system. Because the other NH-U12 mounting sucked when it came to pressure. It just couldnt apply enough of it to the CPU IMO.

what matters, is the heatsink itself, and how that stacks up to the competition. The heatsink has been available for awhile w/o a fan (or with the old lackluster S-series fan)...it's okay (though fairly good with low airflow in comparison). What makes it new is the new P-series fan is included. :)
