Is it just me or does the heatpipe look like Maximus??

The board looks like a rainbow had sex with a motherboard and out popped this..To my eyes I see, black, white, yellow, red, blueish green, neon looking green, possibly orange....Maybe its because I see colors differently than other people but damn.

Bleh, anyways. This does not bring me much joy.....

NB+SB are aluminum now instead of copper for the NB, and the NB heatsink is quite large, that's why it looks more like the Maximus.
That Molex and the 8 Pin CPU are badly placed though :(

the colors are well... gigabyte typical....

passive cooling? does that mean they fixed the heat issues they had with previous chipsets? or is gigabyte gambling with stability here?

and yep, the 8 pin is in a terrible location...

offtopic....

why do they always (or better in many cases) cover 4 of the 8 pins on the 8 pin connector?

is it to make sure people that have a 4 pin only plug it in in the right half of it as i assume? if yes, does it actually make a difference? sorry for noob question... i had 8 pin connector on my psu's since before the desktop mainboards started having them.

looks like there is more room on the baord now that that old legacy BS is cut out. screw LPT and serial, I want layout... and that was delivered.

Gigabyte needs to quit with the colorful boards. They were cool 6 years ago, but now I'm sick of it. It looks ridiculous.

Wished more mobos had white plugs so you could see them better when its dark ;)

and why on earth are motherboard companies still putting serial ports on the I/O panel? Those were supposed to die when USB 1.1 came along :stick:

holy heatsink batman, that thing is huge! is the chipset really THAT hot???

tiborrr
11-20-2007, 05:12 AM
Yup, hot as hell. I have to cool my nForce 680i SLI's SPP with Thermalright HR-05 and some 80mm fan strapped on it in order to keep it under 50deg C under load :D

G.Foyle

Do I see 8x USB on the IO panel?
And The heatsink doesnt really look like both C55 and that PCI-E 2.0 splitter could fit under it. Maybe it's one chip solution, the one that was supposed to be 790i?

They can also kill off those PS/2, especially on a high-end board.

why do ppl :banana::banana::banana::banana: about the colour so much

do you REALLY pick a board on colour and what do you do sip your beer watching your board clock away or something rofl :p

I dont like the colors. But to be fair, the motherboard is very highlighted and in real life the colors are much more bearable.

Gigabytes boards are built with great quality, when i compared the build quality of my asus maximus and the gigabyte x38, i found the gigabyte to be built much better, and gigabyte has great service for RMA!! what is the situation with these boards and yorkfeilds??? has that :banana::banana::banana:fight between intel and nvidia ended yet???

Seems to be a pretty bad layout, but since it is a Gigabyte board, it will work well for the most part.

check once again. the base is HUGE!

I don't like the layout as well. can't believe Gigabyte made such a mistake. normally they got a quite decent layout.

and for the colours... well. I like it more simple. just gimme black PCB and it'll be allright. but black PCB with white and/or orange connectors is pure pr0n to me (that's why I like the P5W-DH that much :yepp: )

Silver Bullet

Why can't they just make a black board, with all black and silver slots and then just leave the copper cooler. That would look so much better! ...

No, however I think that current color scheme is a bit over the top. And this coming from a P965 DQ6 and P965 DS3 owner.

As mentioned already I have to agree with the layout of the 4pin molex and the 8pin cpu connections.

As for me,I would love to see more white PCB. I believe at one time Sapphire made a white PCB board, it sucked from what I read but it was sexy as hell.

Anyways, I just hope that Gigabyte starts releasing some decent BIOS for the X38 board. My mate cannot OC his quad for :banana::banana::banana: on his board..

the colors are retarded, if it was the best mobo the colors wouldnt stop me from buying it, if it wasnt a giga:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: . After a couple battles with gigabytes JOKE costumer support and JOKE RMA department full of :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::b anana:S i wont take a gigabyte product for free for life.

11-20-2007, 03:04 PM
LOL the colors are about the last on my list of things to consider

I don't care if it looks cheezy as long as it clocks good, runs cool & stable, and supports 45nm chips!

don't know for sure, but if I recall correctly white was the most expensive PCB colour. ATIs reference mainboards have been white and since Sapphire produced 'em for ATI it's no wonder they've been white as well.

wasn't there a silver mainboard as well? from Soyo?

I still like white the most.

Gigabyte really needs to mix up the colors. We finally got ASUS away from the puke yellow...

This motherboard "reminds me of GAY" Rainbow and the Gay parade that goes by in Montreal every year! GAY GAY GAY lol

And wow, what were they thinking placing the 8pin CPU plug in there? How am i suppose to reach it when my PSU is behind my mobo tray? That mobo better have some great performance so that ppl can stop looking @ it and start looking @ what it offers! (Performance wise...)
