The 'E8 theory" proposed in this work is an exceptionally simple unification of the standard model and gravity. All known fields are parts of an E8 principal bundle connection.
E8 is perhaps the most beautiful structure
in all of mathematics, but it's very complex."
- Hermann Nicolai
The theory proposed in this paper represents a comprehensive unification program, describing all fields of the standard model and gravity as parts of a uniquely beautiful mathematical structure. The principal bundle connection and its curvature describe how the E8 manifold twists and turns over spacetime, reproducing all known fields and dynamics through pure geometry. Some aspects of this theory are not yet completely understood, and until they are it should be treated with appropriate skepticism. However, the current match to the standard model and gravity is very good. Future work will either strengthen the correlation to known physics and produce successful predictions for the LHC, or the theory will encounter
a fatal contradiction with nature. The lack of extraneous structures and free parameters ensures testable predictions, so it will either succeed or fail spectacularly.
If E8 theory is fully successful as a theory of everything, our universe is an exceptionally beautiful shape.

wait, so is this more valid than the current m theory?
gillll
11-19-2007, 01:51 AM
m theory is another theory (much more acceptable and older the e8)
the shape linkage all particals and fields something that M theory is also doing but more complex
just a new theory that's all :D
i guess time as always will tell what will happen with this one.

Hopefully they get the underlying quantum physics of the creation of the Universe, if it was created.
Might just existed without creation.
However, nice model.
It might be God your looking at or at least a model of him ;)

lol btw u like it because it's mathmathical nice :D
it's simetry is attracting us.
the shape only shows the relations between all particals and therefor manages (in a diff way from M theory) to combine all physics fields that as of today still has major gap between the macro world and the micro one which seems to conflict with each other.

It will be nice if it can make some testable predictions - unlike the stringies. And being able to explain the distribution of dark matter in and around galaxies would also be a big plus.

Yes but science = money just like almost everything else in the world.
They are doing experiments, the particle accelerator over in Europe is being complete around now. They will be using that help test these theories.
These experiments need to be done multiply times, and they also need to very exact otherwise they wont be proving anything correct. They are hitting parts of an atom with other atoms and other parts of atoms. You understand how small that is? If they miscalculate even ten nanometers they are going to be off and waste their money and time. There is a reason for all the wait. Good things are to come ;)

Good things are to come ;)Colliding counter-rotating streams of particles is something that they've been doing for decades. Don't remember who did it first but if it wasn't the Tevatron at Fermilab then it was probably the proton synchrotron at Brookhaven. The two notable feature of the LHC will be it's unprecedented energies and the sophistication of it's detectors.

Colliding counter-rotating streams of particles is something that they've been doing for decades.
I know that, but what I was saying that only newer versions are going to attempt to prove this theory because of of the size of these reactions and particles.
I forgot to mention it.

Wonder if he supports this new theory.

Well, the image is beautiful, like a giant conscience eye . The theory "feels" beautiful. A bit like i always "sensed" it would be something like that, everything is connected etc, except the eyethingy. But since i left school at 15, i'm in no position to check the formula's :D

There are a couple of reasons to be skeptical of Lisi's work. First, he has a problem with units at the very start of the paper, which could cascade through the whole work. It is not yet clear that this problem is fatal, but at this point we just don't know. He has found that the chosen symmetry operations correspond to the symmetry groups of particles—not that surprising, considering the number of symmetry operations he has at his disposal—but at this point, he can't calculate the properties of predicted particles (really, these are just degrees of freedom in the symmetry class), because that requires what look to be extraordinarily difficult calculations. If the unit problem is serious, this will get worse, meaning no predictions at all.

No there not! When all of the questions are answered the Game is OVER! That's an incredibly narrow minded view of things..... Not to argue about it, I respect your views but really how can you believe that? You could then say that we should not build things, that there should be no advance in technology, that we should never question. I just could not ever accept that.

Yes, its just my opinion but the obvious truth is that man goes too far trying to explain what is , what was and what should be instead of being and living in Harmony with his surrounding environment.
Now that would be the obvious hint that nothing from Earth belongs there!

A good quote I love from an awesome book
"The best thing for being sad, is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honor trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then - to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the thing for you. Look at what a lot of things there are to learn - pure science, the only purity there is. You can learn astronomy in a lifetime, natural history in three, literature in six. And then, after you have exhausted a milliard lifetimes in biology and medicine and theocritism and geography and history and economics - why, you can start to make a cartwheel out of appropriate wood, or spend fifty years learning to begin to learn to beat your adversary at fencing. After that you can start again on mathematics, until it is time to learn to plough."
