So after doing a system restore in my 32-bit Vista Home Premium partition to fix the bugs that the AIM security update caused, my XP partition won't boot anymore. When I select XP, I get the gray bar loading bar at the bottom and just freezes when it's done.
Anyone know any solutions to this besides reformatting the partition? I'm fine with reformatting, but it's something I'd like to avoid if possible. I've searched here and Google, but I haven't found anything. Any help would be appreciated.

im sure you will haver tried this already.
But you should try safe mode 1st and see if any drivers you need to install for proper function of windows are installed.
you could also try to run FIXMBR from the recovery console..
Although i do not think that the MBR is corrupted at all.
Also running CHKDSK with the /r paramiter would not be a bad idea.
And should really be run before you start messing with the boot record.
seeing as your system boots up to a point then the file system is intact so There is no need to use the fixboot command (DO NOT USE FIXBOOT) so really i wouldnt know what els to sugest without actualy seeing the problematic pc my self..
Its a possibile that you need to reset your bios to factory defaults allowing the os to controll pnp functions.
and after windows resumes working. then re adjust your bios to its optimal settins, after windows is up and stable with all drivers installed.

Tried safe mode, wouldn't go past loading the .sys files. CHKDSK didn't show anything wrong either. I'll try the recovery console to see if that does anything.
Edit: FIXMBR didn't do anything. I'm just gonna go ahead and reformat the XP partition.
