So what's the word on Volume Shadow Copies in Vista (System Restore points). Is it worth it or does it just degrade disk performance?

Eh, if you find yourself corrupting files all the time... Leave it on LOL.

I have it off though, found it to be a useless feature.

shadow copies have been around since server 2003 and is a very efficient way of restoring files in a corporate environment.

It does not corrupt any files...

It's usefull if you do lots of modifications to files (like word documents for example) and you want to return to a previous version of a file (like you accidently overwrite it or whatever...) If you right-click on a file in a share where shadow copies are enabled, you will have a "Previous Versions" tab.

Shadow Copies is also a component used in system state backups.

I didn't say at any point that it corrupts files. I was more or less just saying in few words that if the topic creator has bad luck with files becoming corrupted (or anything really) that he should leave it on.

Well if you have been fine without it b4 using an OS whit this support you're probably gonna be fine without it now too.
